The purpose of this study is to find out if mothers with high blood pressure (Hypertension) and/or diabetes have babies with high levels of different substances (that help to regulate blood pressure, called Renin and Aldosterone) in their blood. The investigators are also trying to determine if these babies have higher blood pressure than those babies born to mothers without high blood pressure or diabetes, during the first year of life. The investigators will measure your baby's blood pressure once a day for the first 4 days, at 1 week of age, and then once per week until your baby is discharged. The investigators will also measure the blood pressure after discharge at 4 and 10 months of age, either on the day of your baby's follow-up appointment in the Neonatal Follow-up Clinic or at a visit to our Outpatient Nephrology Clinic, both at CHEO.

The specific aim of the study is to determine whether a freeze dried powder provided by the California Strawberries Commission, can reduce blood pressure in patients with pre-hypertension. The powder is prepared by the California Strawberry Commission (CSC).

The objective of this Investigation is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of long-term treatment with Xalacom in medical practice. Also, occurrence of unknown and known adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in subjects treated with Xalacom will be monitored during the survey period, and whether an additional treatment outcome investigation and/or a post-marketing clinical study is required in the future will be determined.

This study will compare hypertension treatment pattern of stroke patients with non-stroke patients receiving medical care from outpatient clinics at neurology specialty centers in Korea. Previous cross-sectional studies have demonstrated that blood pressure (BP) measurements at home (HBP) in the morning offer stronger predictive power for micro- and macrovascular complications in patients with type 1 and 2 diabetes than casual/clinic blood pressure measurements (CBP). The present study examined which of HBP or CBP provides the stronger predictive power for outcomes by comparing cumulative events between hypertensive and normotensive patients over 6 years in a prospective, longitudinal study of patients with type 2 diabetes.

The in-MAU-tion study is conducted to determine the percentage of hypertensive participants with or without diabetes reaching CHEP (Canadian Hypertension Education Program) defined blood pressure targets. Additionally, the study assesses change in renal function (microalbuminuria, estimated glomerular filtration rate) in hypertensive participants treated with trandolapril (Mavik®) and examines patient satisfaction with trandolapril (Mavik®) therapy.

The investigators will do a trial in two general practices to see if the introduction of a blood pressure clinic staffed by a specialist nurse supported by visiting consultant improves blood pressure control compared to usual care.
