Eplerenone and Aliskiren Research Targeting Hypertensive Patients With Left Ventricular Hypertrophy...

Hypertensive Left Ventricular Hypertrophy

The primary objective of this study is to determine which treatment will be more effective to reduce left ventricular mass in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy comparing aliskiren and eplerenone.

Changes in Nasal Airflow Parameters After Septoplasty and Turbinoplasty

Nasal ObstructionNasal Septum; Deviation1 more

Pathological-anatomical changes in the nasal cavity (nasal septum/perforation, mucosal hypertrophy) negatively affect nasal airflow, increase resistance - cause nasal obstruction and are often an indication for surgery. The aim of the study is to examine nasal airflow parameters after septoplasty and turbinoplasty .

Microneedling Therapy With or Without Amnion Bilayer Sheeting on Scar Tissue

ScarsHypertrophic1 more

The aim of this study is to compare the outcome of microneedling therapy with or without amnion bilayer sheeting on post-burn hypertrophic scar tissue. A clinical trial will be conducted with 17 samples, from September to December 2021.

Losartan Intervention For Endpoint Reduction in Hypertension (LIFE) Study (0954-133)

Hypertension and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (Thickening of the Main Pumping Chamber of the Heart)

The LIFE study was conducted from 1995-2001. This study was conducted in 9193 patients with high blood pressure and thickening of the main pumping chamber of the heart. The results showed that after an average treatment time of 4.8 years, treatment that was based on losartan was better than treatment based on atenolol for reducing the risk of having a stroke. The main study results were published in Dahlof et al. Lancet 2002;359:995-1003.

Outpatient Ultrasound for the Diagnostic Work-up of Oropharynx Cancer

Oropharynx CancerOropharynx Neoplasm6 more

The aim of the study was to examine the detection rate and tumor size evaluation in patients with suspected oropharynx cancer using a new technique with transoral ultrasound of the oropharynx. The new technique was compared to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The study investigators included patients referred to a tertiary head & neck cancer center in Copenhagen, Denmark, with suspicion of oropharynx cancer. Patients supplied written informed consent and were included and ultrasound scanned with local anesthesia in the outpatient clinic. Blinded assessment of MRI's was performed for tumor detection and compared to ultrasound with the reference standard being histopathology biopsy results.

Prostate Cancer Antigen 3 (PCA-3) Gene Project

Prostate CancerBenign Prostatic Hypertrophy

Nowadays, prostate cancer screening is largely widespread although it is not recommended yet. This screening includes primarily digital rectal examination and PSA. Recently, a new specific genetic marker of prostate cancer has been discovered. It is PCA-3 gene. The main objective is to evaluate prospectively this new marker in patients treated for prostatic pathology (benign or malign) in the department.

3D Non-invasive Myocardial Electrical Propagation Mapping as a New Tool to Predict Sudden Death...

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is very common. The thickened heart muscle can disrupt the normal functioning of the heart's electrical system, resulting in fast or irregular heartbeats. Today, there are no reliable means to identify HCM patients at risk of sudden death. The CardioInsight™ has recently been developed by Medtronic for non-invasive advanced cardiac mapping system. The CardioInsight™ Noninvasive 3D Mapping System is a non-invasive mapping system that collects chest ECG signals and combines these signals with CT scan data to produce and display simultaneous, bi-atrial and biventricular, 3-D cardiac maps. It is a monocentric, prospective, comparative and analytical study. 20 HCM patients will be recruited in the National Reference Center for inherited cardiac diseases of Lyon. The 3D-propagation maps of 10 well phenotyped and genotyped HCM patients with previous VF (ventricular fibrillation) will be compared to 10 HCM patients without previous VF. After consent signed, Holter ECG, scanner and CardioInsightTM 3D_ECG mapping will be planned in the month following the inclusion. 12-lead ECG, 24h holter ECG, cardiac scanner will be performed as standard procedure of each center in the current health care of the patient. The widespread screening of HCM patients with 3D high-density noninvasive mapping should improve the risk-benefit ratio of implantable defibrillator therapy. It is expected that more patients at risk will benefit from this device.

CRyo-Ablation to Treat Patients With HOCM.

HOCMHypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy

The purpose of the study is to perform endocardial catheter CRyo-Ablation to relieve the LVOT obstruction in patients with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. The investigators hypothesize that the investigators will be able to reduce > 50% of the initial LVOT gradient. This will be considered as a successful procedure.
