Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) Extension Study of Oral Testosterone Undecanoate in...

HypogonadismMale

The purpose of this six-month treatment extension study is to assess feasibility of a lower starting dose of SOV2012-F1 (daily dose of 400 mg [200 mg with breakfast meal and 200mg with dinner meal]) to titrate individual doses in order to further enhance drug administration. To examine the blood pressure (BP) effects of Marius's oral testosterone undecanoate formulation, SOV2012-F1, using 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM).

Gonadal Dysfunction in Male Long-term Survivors of Malignant Lymphoma; Vitality

Hypogonadism

This study is a prospective non-randomised open label multicenter phase two study in male long-term survivors of malignant lymphoma including Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) and Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). The study aims to assess whether low levels of testosterone in the blood of patients cured for aggressive lymphoma, can be effectively treated with Testosterone gel, and if treatment with testosterone can improve their general quality of life. The investigators hypothesize that patients will develop sexual dysfunction and poor quality of life when suffering from untreated reduced level of testosterone. Cancer treatment is increasingly effective and the overall survival higher, which makes issues like sexuality and long-term quality of life more and more important to address in cured cancer patients. Patient sexuality and quality of life is measured by three questionnaires, and serum testosterone level, during one year of treatment with Testogel. The intention is to show that future follow-up visits should include focus on sexuality and serum testosterone, so relevant patients can be identified and treated for their hormonedeficiency without delay. The expected follow-up program include questionnaires and blood samples, which are easily implemented and without great cost.

Growing up With the Young Endocrine Support System (YESS!)

Congenital Adrenal HyperplasiaHypogonadotropic Hypogonadism7 more

Transition from paediatric to adult endocrinology is a challenge for adolescents, families and doctors. Up to 25% of young adults with chronic endocrine disorders are lost to follow-up ('drop-out') once the young adult moves out of paediatric care. Non-attendance and sub-optimal medical self-management can lead to serious and expensive medical complications. In a pilot study, adolescents suggested the use of e-technology to become more involved in the transition process. The investigators have designed and developed the YESS! game, a tool to help improve medical self-management in adolescents with chronic endocrine disorders. The hypothesis is that adolescents playing the YESS! game will show a larger increase in self-management score during the first year of transition and will have a lower drop-out rate at the adult endocrine outpatient clinic (OPC), compared to adolescents who do not play the game.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy in Chronic Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal Cord InjuryHypogonadism

It has long been recognized that co-morbidity associated with multiple metabolic syndrome, such as adverse body composition, insulin resistance and autonomic nervous system impairment, may lead to significant increase in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. It is unclear whether the co-morbidity evident in this population are due directly to their immobility or are the result of unfavorable changes in their underlying hormonal milieu. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of testosterone replacement therapy in hypogonadal males on: body composition, i.e. lean tissue and fat mass, glucose tolerance, resting energy expenditure, autonomic-cardiovascular integrity, muscular strength, psychological assessment

Clomiphene in Males With Prolactinomas and Persistent Hypogonadism

Hypogonadotropic HypogonadismProlactinoma

Prolactinomas are usually associated with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in both sexes. Clomiphene citrate is a well known selective estrogen receptor modulator that increases gonadotropin secretion via hypothalamic-pituitary action. We conducted a prospective, open label clinical trial of CC to evaluate its effects in reverting persistent HH in male patients with prolactinomas under dopaminergic agonist treatment.

A Trial to Evaluate the Ongoing Skin Safety of Testosterone MD-Lotion Formulations

Hypogonadism

Testosterone replacement treatment is the most effective way of treating hypogonadism in men. Acrux has a propriety testosterone replacement product, Testosterone MD-Lotion and this study will assess the occurrence of skin safety events for a further two months of continuous use of the Testosterone MD-Lotion® (cutaneous solution) after completion of the MTE08 (NCT00702650) trial.

Efficacy Study for Use of Dutasteride (Avodart) With Testosterone Replacement

Hypogonadism

This is a study using two FDA approved medications: Testosterone and the study medication, Dutasteride (Avodart 0.5mg/day). Half of the subjects will receive dutasteride and half will receive a placebo. The study medication will be taken for 12 months. The subjects participating in the study are men who are already taking their own testosterone supplement because they have low testosterone levels which may cause them to experience sexual function difficulties, have fatigue or other symptoms. Testosterone can have an adverse effect of causing an enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy) (BPH). Dutasteride (Avodart) is an approved medication used to decrease the prostate size, prevent urinary symptoms and reduce the risk of surgery. The researchers would like to see if by taking dutasteride and testosterone at the same time they can prevent the adverse effects of testosterone and at the same time get the positive benefits of testosterone. There will be 6 scheduled visits for the study and 2 diagnostic tests called a TRUS (TransRectal UltraSound), to evaluate prostate size. The six visits at will include consenting, blood work, two sexual function questionnaires, a physical examination, physical measurements, study medication teaching and dispensing of study medication.
