The Effects of an Anti-inflammatory Diet With or Without Curcumin Supplementation on Anthropometric...

Thyroid DiseasesHypothyroidism1 more

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate The effects of an anti-inflammatory diet with or without curcumin supplementation on anthropometric measurements, concentrations of thyroid hormones, anti-TPO, and systemic inflammation in plasma and NFK-B in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in patients with Hashimoto. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does prescribing an anti-inflammatory diet with or without curcumin supplementation significantly affect the changes in anthropometric measurements (weight, body mass index, BMI, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio) in patients with Hashimoto's disease? Does prescribing an anti-inflammatory diet with or without curcumin supplementation significantly affect the changes in the serum concentration of thyroid hormones (T3, T4, TSH) in patients with Hashimoto's disease? Does prescribing an anti-inflammatory diet with or without curcumin supplementation significantly affect the change of Anti-TPO concentration in patients with Hashimoto's disease? Does prescribing an anti-inflammatory diet with or without curcumin supplementation significantly affect the changes in systemic inflammation indicators (hs-CRP, IL-6) in plasma and NF-κB in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in patients with Hashimoto's disease?

Combined Levothyroxine/Liothyronine Supplementation in Hypothyroid Patients With Brain Tumors

HypothyroidismBrain Tumor

Primary Objectives: Assess whether combined treatment with Levothyroxine and Liothyronine improves learning and memory. Explore the relationship between T3 treatment and other domains of cognitive function, quality of life, and mood.

REduction of LEvothyroxine in Adults; a SElf Controlled Study

Hypothyroidism

Many older persons use the thyroid hormone levothyroxine which is often continued for life. Scientifically, there is much uncertainty whether simple continuation is the optimal approach. The goal of this self-controlled observational study is to investigate how many participants of 60 years and older who are currently using levothyroxine, can be successfully withdrawn from levothyroxine treatment, either fully or partially, while maintaining a normal thyroid function (defined as a free T4 level within the reference range and a thyroid stimulating hormone [TSH] level <10 mU/L), 52 weeks after the start of the discontinuation. Levothyroxine treatment is discontinued gradually guided by the participant's general practitioner, using a step-wise approach with regular monitoring of thyroid function. In addition, the effects of discontinuation of levothyroxine on thyroid-specific quality of life and general health will be studied using questionnaires.

Thyroid Function of Pediatric Subjects Following Isovue® Administration

Hypothyroidism

This is a Phase IV prospective, multicenter, observational study to estimate the proportion of subjects 0 to 3 years of age who develop abnormal thyroid function after exposure to intravascular administration of ISOVUE for the required radiologic procedure as part of their standard of care.

Comparison of Levothyroxine Formulation in Hypothyroid Patients With Enteral Feeding

Hypothyroidism

The purpose of this study is to test a liquid levothyroxine formula and examine if it will lead to improvement in management of thyroid function and if it improves hypothyroid symptoms that patients experience.

Different Regimens in Treatment of Hypothyroidism During Fasting in Ramadan

This is a study aiming to report the effect of a variable time regimen of L T4 during Ramadan, as an easier alternative, on adherence and thyroid status after Ramadan compared to standard daily dosing.

Levothyroxine Replacement With Liquid Gel Capsules vs Tablets Post-thyroidectomy

Thyroid CancerPostsurgical Hypothyroidism

In some patients, levothyroxine liquid gel capsules may demonstrate superior absorption than the tablet option. Impaired absorption of thyroid hormone directly correlates to higher and more unpredictable TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels. The investigators therefore hypothesize that following thyroidectomy for Stage I/II differentiated thyroid cancer the gel capsule levothyroxine formulation will provide more predictable TSH results and in turn require fewer dose adjustments to achieve optimal hormone levels in the postoperative period. The aim of this investigation is to compare the use of levothyroxine in liquid gel capsules to tablet form for TSH suppression following thyroidectomy for presumed stage I/II differentiated thyroid cancer.

Growth Hormone and GnRH Agonist in Adolescents With Acquired Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism

The purpose of this study is to see if giving growth hormone and Lupron along with thyroid hormone will improve final height in patients with long term hypothyroidism. Lupron is a medicine which is used to delay puberty and to prevent early closure of growing bones which might increase growth potential. Growth hormone is used to restore growth rate. This study will include children with "short term" and "long term" hypothyroidism.

Effect of Thyroid Hormone Replacement on Fatigability in Untreated Older Adults With Subclinical...

Thyroid DysfunctionMental Fatigue1 more

Thyroid hormone is a key regulatory hormone for a range of physiological systems. An impaired function of the thyroid gland such as subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) can affect quality of life. Older adults with subclinical hypothyroidism often report non-specific symptoms such as tiredness. In addition, muscle symptoms such as cramps, weakness and myalgia are more common in SCH than in healthy controls. At present, evidence is lacking about the benefits of thyroxine replacement in the elderly with SCH, as no large randomized clinical trials (RCT) on the full range of relevant clinical outcomes, including tiredness have been performed. Moreover, there is continued uncertainty about the long-term impact on health related quality of life of thyroxine treatment for SCH. The aim of the study is to examine, within a large RCT of elderly participants with subclinical hypothyroidism, the impact of thyroxine therapy on the association between subclinical thyroid disease (SCTD) and the level of physical and mental fatigue. The existing trial infrastructure (TRUST thyroid trial-Euresearch FP7; clinicaltrials.gov ID: NCT 01660126) will be utilized to collect information on the level of physical and mental fatigue by using the Pittsburgh Fatigability Scale at baseline and at 1 year from 220 participants with persistent subclinical hypothyroidism randomized to either thyroxine or placebo.
