Safety and Efficacy Study of Encapsulated Human Islets Allotransplantation to Treat Type 1 Diabetes...
Type 1 Diabetes MellitusIn view to avoid immunosuppression, the investigators are submitting a Phase 1 clinical trial protocol testing the safety and the efficacy of encapsulated human islets in a "Monolayer Cellular Device" for allogeneic islets transplantation in Type 1 diabetic patients performed at the University clinical hospital Saint-Luc, Brussels. Encapsulated human islets will be transplanted in the subcutaneous tissue as "safety procedure" for patients. This protocol (single center trial) is designed as a limited series of islets transplants for 15 Type 1 diabetic adult subjects.
Multicenter Assessment of the PDA-FIT System in Type 1 Diabetic Patients
Type 1 DiabetesTELEDIAB-1 is a national, multicenter, controlled, randomised trial. The Primary objective of the TELEDIAB-1 study is to demonstrate that the PDA-FIT system (PDA-Phone and/or telemonitoring) is able to improve metabolic control of chronically uncontrolled type 1 diabetic patients, despite intensive insulin therapy (multiple daily injections with basal-bolus insulin or insulin pump), as compared with conventional care. Main judgment criteria: comparison of HbA1c means between the 3 groups at 6 months
Telemetric Glucose Data Acquisition During Initiation of Insulin Pump Therapy
Diabetes MellitusType 12 moreThis study will help determine whether the use of a wireless glucose meter and and an internet-based automated diabetes management system to organize blood glucose values will help improve glucose control during the start of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion therapy by an insulin pump device in patients with type 1 diabetes. Outcome measures to be determined include an assessment of glucose excursions, overall glucose control, health care team staff and patient time required and a satisfaction survey.
Impact of Optimized Titration and Delivery of Bedtime Insulin on Prevention of Nocturnal Hypoglycemia...
Type 1 Diabetes MellitusThe purpose of this study is to determine whether or not bedtime snacks are necessary to prevent overnight low blood glucose reactions (nocturnal hypoglycemia) in adults with type 1 diabetes who are using intensive insulin therapies, either multiple injections of insulin or insulin pump. We hypothesize that a bedtime snack is not necessary if the bedtime insulin is very well adjusted and delivered, especially by use of insulin pump which is considered the "gold standard" for overnight blood glucose control.
Vascular Function in Adolescent, Diabetic Children
Type 1 DiabetesThe objectives of this investigator initiated study are to: Determine if and when vascular abnormalities occur during early adolescence Determine if poor diabetic control is related to vascular abnormalities. The development of vascular plaques and vascular contractility will be assessed through the use of the SyphmgnoCor equipment.
An Evaluation of Blood Glucose Levels and Insulin Requirement After Subacromial Corticosteroid Injection...
Shoulder InjuryInsulin-dependent DiabeticsThe overall purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of a corticosteroid shoulder injection on glucose levels in insulin-dependent diabetic men and women.
Participant-Reported Outcomes With the Accu-Chek® Solo Micropump System
Diabetes MellitusType 1This interventional device study aims to compare mainly standard Multiple Daily Injection (MDI) therapy vs. Accu-Chek® Solo Micropump System and investigates participant satisfaction. In addition, a third arm is included to compare to only similar product on the market which is OmniPod. The third arm is for data collection purpose.
Dietary Fat and Endothelial Function in Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 DiabetesThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of the add-on of extra vergin olive oil or butter to a high glycemic index meal on endothelial function in subjects with type 1 Diabetes and healthy subjects.
Incretin-based Therapy in Late Preclinical Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 DiabetesThe objective of the trial is to study whether daily treatment with liraglutide improves endogenous insulin secretion, postpones progression to overt Type 1 diabetes, and is tolerable and safe in subjects aged 10-30 years, who are positive for multiple islet autoantibodies and have dysglycemia.
Pancreatic Islet Cell Transplantation After Kidney Transplantation - A Novel Approach to Immunosupression...
Islet Cell TransplantationType 1 DiabetesThe purpose of this study is to further test islet cell transplant in patients who have had a kidney transplant. This study will also evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the anti-rejection medications used to prevent rejection after your islet cell transplant.
