Artificial Intelligence in the Diagnosis of Orthopaedic Conditions, Particularly Bone Tumours and...
Bone TumoursBone Infection2 moreTranslational research aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy of musculoskeletal infection and musculoskeletal tumours using machine learning applied to clinical data, histopathological sections and genomic sequencing.
Epidemiological and Clinical Characteristics of Hospitalized Patients Under 5 Years Old With RSV...
RSV InfectionThe study will be a multicenter, hospital-based retrospective study. We plan to collect the clinical and laboratory data among all hospitalized ARTI cases in three hospitals in Wuhan from June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2023 and then analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of RSV infection, clarify the gene types of epidemics under 5 years old children after the outbreak in Wuhan, China.
AUD Biomarkers Study (Proteomic and Genomic Analysis of Biospecimens)
OncologyHematologic Malignancy7 moreStudy purpose: to explore the entire spectrum of proteomic and genomic changes (amongst others) involved in diseases and in healthy/control populations. The Study is designed to discover biomarkers, develop and validate diagnostic assays, instruments and therapeutics as well as other medical research. Specifically, researchers may analyze proteins, RNA, DNA copy number changes, including large and small (1,000-100,000 kb) scale rearrangements, transcription profiles, epigenetic modifications, sequence variation, and sequence in both diseased tissue and case-matched germline DNA from Subjects.
Roles of Prophylactic Subcutaneous Drain in Preventing Surgical Site Infection in Surgical Wound...
Surgical Site InfectionSurgical site infections (SSI) pose a common challenge in the field of surgery. Current evidence and literature do not provide clear consensus whether the use of subcutaneous drainage will help reduce the incidence of SSI in patients who underwent abdominal surgery, especially in wounds that are categorized as contaminated (class 3) or dirty/infected (class 4). The objective of this clinical study is to compare the rate of surgical site infection in contaminated and dirty/infected surgical wounds among patients whose wounds are inserted with subcutaneous drainage and patients who are not inserted with subcutaneous drainage.
Assessment of the Increased Risk of Infection Following an Ultratrail
RunningImmune Deficiency1 moreThe increase in the practice of running has encouraged a proliferation of studies evaluating the impact of this sport on health. A number of these studies have looked at the influence of endurance events on the immune system. After prolonged exercise, a systemic inflammatory syndrome sets in, with repercussions for the functioning of the immune system. The number of lymphocytes in the blood is reduced, the function of natural killer (NK) cells is impaired and secretory immunity is impaired. During this period of immunosuppression, often referred to as the 'open window', the host may be more susceptible to micro-organisms that bypass the first line of defence. The invetigators' hypothesis is therefore that ultratrailers are overexposed to the risk of infection due to immunodepression resulting from practising this sport. In order to support this hypothesis, the investigators would like to look at infectious complications in general and ear-nose and throat episodes (rhinitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, etc.) in particular, which are the most common infections encountered in primary care, along with urinary tract infections.
Clinical Trial to Study the Safety and Effectiveness of MK0826 and Other Antibiotic Therapy in Patients...
Urinary Tract InfectionsThe purpose of this study is to demonstrate that MK0826 is comparable to Meropenem in the treatment of complicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) in adults.
Cross Linking for Treatment of Corneal Infection
Infectious KeratitisThis study is comparing 45 minute and 30 minute treatment durations with the UVX corneal cross linking system to treat corneal infections.
Collaborative H1N1 Adjuvant Treatment Pilot Trial
Critically IllH1N1/Influenza InfectionStudy Design: A, multinational, double blind, placebo-controlled pilot RCT involving 80 patients in the general ICUs of 30 centres. Most patients will be recruited from within Canada; however cases will be recruited from international sites. This study will be conducted under the auspices of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group (CCCTG) and the International Forum for Acute Care Trialists (InFACT).
A Comparison of Surgical Preparations and Wound Infection Rates for Elective Cesarean Sections
Wound InfectionThe purpose of this study is to find out if chlorhexidine gluconate solution is better at reducing the rate of wound infection after cesarean section compared to povidone-iodine.
The Safety and Effectiveness of Ribavirin in the Early Stages of HIV-Infection
HIV InfectionsThe objective of this clinical trial is to determine whether long-term oral dosage of ribavirin delays development of symptomatic HIV disease in HIV antibody positive subjects who are completely asymptomatic (CDC classification group II), who have only the lymphadenopathy syndrome (CDC classification group III), or who have clinical symptoms but not severe HIV disease as defined by CDC classification, and whether the dosage regimen is safe and tolerable in these subjects.
