Study to Assess VPM1002 in Reducing Hospital Admissions and/or Severe Respiratory Infectious Diseases...

InfectionRespiratory Tract

The aim of this study is to investigate whether vaccination of elderly with VPM1002 could reduce hospital admissions and/or severe respiratory infectious diseases in the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic . VPM1002 is a vaccine that is a further development of the old Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, which has been used successfully as a vaccine against tuberculosis for about 100 years, especially in developing countries. VPM1002 has been shown in various clinical studies to be significantly safer than the BCG vaccine. VPM1002 strengthens the body's immune defence and vaccination with BCG reduces the frequency of respiratory diseases. It is therefore assumed that a VPM1002 vaccination could also provide (partial) protection against COVID-19 disease caused by the "new corona virus" SARS-CoV 2.

Imipenem/Cilastatin/Relebactam (IMI/REL) in Treatment of CRE Infections

Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae InfectionKPC2 more

This is an observation study comparing prospective use of Imipenem/Cilastatin/Relebactam (IMI/REL) to retrospective data using Meropenem/Vabobactam (MVB)and Ceftazidime/Avibactam CZA) in treatment of Klebsiella Producing Carbapenemase Enterobacteriaceae infections at a tertiary care hospital. The objectives of the study are to demonstrate successful treatment of KPC containing Enterobacteriaceae infections with IMI/REL including in bacteremia, and to analyze treatment outcomes in use of IMI/REL for KPC-producing infections compared to historical clinical outcome data with CZA and MVB use at the same institution.

A Study of ART24 in Subjects Recently Cured of a Clostridioides Difficile Infection (CDI)

Clostridium Difficile Infection Recurrence

This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, multi-site study in which up to approximately 36 subjects with a recent C. difficile infection (CDI) who have completed a standard of care course of CDI antibiotics and have achieved clinical cure based on signs and symptoms, will be randomized to 7 or 28 daily doses of ART24 or placebo. Subjects will be followed for 6 months after the last dose of study drug.

the Effect of Chest Expansion Exercises on Pleural Effusion

Pulmonary InfectionComplication

the study attempted to assess and evaluate the efficacy of implementing chest expansion exercises on patients with pleural effusion and how this programme contribute to reduce pulmonary infection and complications. To address the objective of the study, the researcher utilized chest expansion exercises consisted of stacked breathing exercise, segmental breathing, chest mobility exercises, deep breathing exercise with use of incentve spirometer and assess the patient before and after exercises by using three tools help to monitor hemodynamic parameters, chest condition, laboratory investigations which help to evaluate pulmonary infection score and complications.

Gentamicin Intravesical Efficacy for Infection of Urinary Tract

Postoperative Urinary Tract InfectionPelvic Organ Prolapse1 more

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common problem after surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. This prospective, randomized, single-masked (subject), two-parallel armed study aims to determine the effect of a single postoperative intravesical instillation of 80 mg of gentamicin sulfate in 50 mL of saline versus usual care on the proportion of women treated for UTI within 6 weeks following surgery for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) or stress urinary incontinence (SUI).

Prophylactic Treatment With Carragelose Nasal Spary to Prevent SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19, Infections...

Respiratory Viral InfectionCommon Cold3 more

This is a prospective, randomized placebo-controlled double blinded clinical trial in frontline healthcare workers managing COVID-19 patients. Participants will be weekly tested for SARS-CoV-2 and a panel of respiratory viruses. Treatment will be 3times a day for 84 days one puff into each nostirl and 3 puffs into mouth. Daily a symptom score will be recorded. The primary objective of the trial is to demonstrate that prophylactic treatment of health care workers managing COVID-19 patients with iota-carrageenan reduces symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infections as well as infections with other respiratory viruses when compared to a placebo-treated control group.
