Retrospective Effectiveness Study of Dalbavancin and Other Standard of Care of the Same Class in...

Acute Bacterial Skin and Skin Structure Infection

The aim of this study is to collect the data on the effectiveness of dalbavancin in terms of save of hospitalization days on patients treated between June 2017 and June 2019 in two countries (Italy and Greece) vs the other Standards of care of the same class (SoC; i.v. lipo and glycopeptides) in a real-life context. Time to discharge from the start of therapy for ABSSSI in the hospital context will be assessed and all relevant data available on patient management, clinical, microbiological and safety outcomes during hospitalization and in the follow-up visits up to 30 days from discharge will be collected and evaluated.

Pharmacokinetics and Pleural Fluid Penetration of Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid in Patients With...

Pleural InfectionEmpyema3 more

The incidence of pleural infection is increasing worldwide since the last two decades. Antibiotics are one of the cornerstones of the treatment of this disease and must be associated to a correct evacuation of the pleural effusion. Data concerning the pleural diffusion of antibiotics currently used in community acquired pleural infection are scarce. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the pleural pharmacokinetic of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid in patients with a complicated pleural infection (patients who need a chest tube insertion).

An Observational Study of the Use of Siltuximab (SYLVANT) in Patients Diagnosed With COVID-19 Infection...

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (ARDS) Secondary to SARS-COV-2 Infection

This observational study will collect data from patients treated with siltuximab program for treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infection complicated with serious respiratory complications. This observational study will group the patients into two cohorts receiving siltuximab.. Outcome of patients will be compared to a cohort of patients receiving standard treatment without siltuximab. The patients will be divided into 2 cohorts. Those contained in Cohort A were treated after the use of continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) or non-invasive ventilation (NIV). Patients in Cohort B were treated after intubation

COVID-19 Seroconversion Among Front Line Medical and Paramedical Staff in Emergency, Intensive Care...

Sars-CoV2

The epidemic due to the Sars-CoV2 virus is spreading in France, without knowning precisely since when the virus has actually circulated on the territory. Data from China but also systematic samples taken from the passengers of the Diamond Princess boat also report almost 50% of asymptomatic forms of Covid-19. The medical and paramedical staff of the front-line services for the care of patients infected with Covid-19 are in fact potentially exposed to the risk of occupational contamination due to the large number of patients treated, including in the pre-epidemic phase. Therefore, and despite the application of standard protective measures, it is possible that a certain number of these personnel already have or will contract Covid-19 disease, including in its asymptomatic form.

Impact of Quinoa Milk Fermented With Lactic Acid Bacteria From Foods on Human Oral and Intestinal...

Microbial Colonization

The demand for alternatives to dairy products has increased in recent years and a lot of proposals for vegetable milk and yogurt products have taken place in the market. Quinoa is a plant from South America that has growth in popularity in recent years as many sought out nutritious and healthier eating, the herb is known for its high nutritional value. It is complete protein source containing all the essential amino acids. If this herb were fermented with probiotic bacteria, there is a potential for a product that is lactose free, gluten free and cholesterol free. The probiotic potential of quinoa milk, fermented with food associated lactic acid bacteria will be investigated. This includes a study that examines how daily consumption of this vegetable drink changes the composition of the oral and intestinal flora. Therefore, healthy people are now seeking to participate in the study, which will be for just over 2 weeks.

The clinical trial studies the human pathogen of SARS-CoV-2, with a specificity in the circulating Spike 2 protein in the human system. The clinical trial hypothesizes that SARS-CoV-2 human pathogen arises from immune attacks, underlying the severe physiological symptoms that can be lethal. It further hypothesizes that the vaccines do not deal with the Spike 2 protein that causes the immune attacks.

Study of the Use of the Ingaron in Volunteers for the Prevention of COVID-19

COVID-19 Respiratory Infection

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the prophylactic use of Ingaron (INN: recombinant interferon gamma human, lyophilisate for solution for intranasal administration 100,000 IU) in the regimen of 3 drops in each nasal passage intranasally every other day for 10 days with a break of 7 days (2 10-day cycles) in volunteers.

The Effect of a Local Injection of a Platelet Concentrate on Infection and Healing of Surgical Wounds...

Wound Infection and Wound Healing

The purpose of this project is to investigate whether a combination of a local injection of platelet rich plasma (PRP) combined with a daily supplement of vitamin C, zinc, L-arginine, as well as high protein diet (1.5 g of protein per kilo body weight per day) can promote tissue healing in patients undergoing open upper-abdominal surgery. Primary endpoint is cases of wound infection and secondary endpoints are time of tissue regeneration (days), judged by traditional clinical observation and experimentally assessed by ultrasound. The experiment is performed as a parallel two-armed, randomized, controlled trial. A total of 40 subjects will be included in the trial i order to ensure the power of the study, despite a drop off of up to 25%.
