Analysis of the Instestinal Microbiome of Patients With Transthyretin Amyloidosis

AmyloidosisHereditary2 more

Amyloidosis is a serious systemic disease. Cardiac involvement has a great impact on prognosis and can occur in its three main forms: acquired monoclonal light chain, hereditary transthyretinal and senile form. The physiopathogenesis basically results from the deposition of an abnormal protein (amyloid) with toxic properties to the myocyte. The scope of this study will be a hereditary transthyretinal amyloidosis (hATTR). It is known that amyloidotic cardiomyopathy due to transthyretin deposit is an underdiagnosed cause of heart failure in adults, being an important differential diagnosis of diseases that manifest with increased myocardial thickness, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or myocardial hypertrophy that accompanies the different degrees of aortic valve stenosis. The human gut microbiota is immensely diverse. It is estimated at around 100 trillion microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi and viruses. The microbiota of each individual is unique and determined by genetic factors such as age, type of delivery, use of antibiotics and diet. Recent data point to the hypothesis that the resilience of the intestinal microbiota plays a role in the process of disease development and health restoration.

Arthrocentesis Study

Periprosthetic Joint InfectionSeptic Arthritis

The purpose of this study is to analyze pre- and intra-operative joint aspirates of native joints and joints with suspicion of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) of the hip, knee and shoulder acquired in clinical routine. Joint aspirates are then analyzed with new diagnostic methods (microcalorimetry, PCR, alpha-defensin, etc.). Diagnostic speed and accuracy of these methods is compared to standard diagnostic methods in clinical routine, such as blood cultures of joint aspirates, cell count/differential, intra-operative tissue culture and histology and sonication.

Treatment of Febrile Infectious Disease Among Children in Hadera District Given the Final Diagnosis....

Febrile Illness Acute

Study goal - to describe pediatric patients with febrile disease that administered to the emergency department (ED) of hillel-yaffe hospital, according to arrival diagnosis, ED diagnosis, given therapy, and therapy concordance with the guidelines and final diagnosis. This research will describe cases that arrived to the hospital with acute febrile disease (up to seven days of fever), the antibiotic treatment given in the community according to the anamnesis and the community physician letter, therapy concordance with the guidelines, the ED diagnosis and changes in therapy, and final diagnosis according to extended microbiological examinations and panel of infectious disease specialists.

Gallstones and Concomitant Gastric Helicobacter Pylori Infection

Cholelithiasis

In this study, the presence of H.Pylori in the gallbladder mucosa of patients with symptomatic gallstones undergoing cholecystectomy was investigated. Concomitant H.Pylori infection of the gastric mucosa was also investigated to study the relationship of gastric H.Pylori infection to gallstones. It was hypothesized that H.Pylori infection of the gastric mucosa may have a role in the formation of gallstones.

The Rate of C-reactive Protein (CRP) Increase as a Marker for Bacterial Infections in Children

Bacterial InfectionsViral Infection

Fever is one of the most common problems in pediatrics. Differentiating between bacterial infections, that require antibiotic therapy, and viral infections that resolve on their own is an important challenge for physicians. C-reactive protein (CRP) is a protein that increases in response to inflammation and its level is generally higher in bacterial infections compared to viral infections. it can be measured by a simple blood test, however its utility as a sole marker for bacterial infection is limited. The hypothesis of the study is that measuring CRP velocity, e.g the value of CRP divided by the hours since the fever started will improve the utility of CRP for the diagnosis of bacterial infections in children.

BJI Inoplex 2 : Test for Diagnosis of Prosthetic Infections

Bone and Joint Prosthetic Infections

A national, prospective, open-label, non-interventional, multicentre, controlled study designed to evaluate a diagnostic method in patients undergoing hip, knee or shoulder prosthetic removal regardless of whether or not infection is suspected. Serological test results will have no impact on the therapeutic approach. Study objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of an antibody detection kit for the serological diagnosis of bone and joint prosthetic device infections cause by Staphylococci, Streptococci, Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) and Gram-negative bacteria versus the reference method: the bacterial culture of deep intraoperative samples.
