ED Residents MBP During CVC Placement: Sim Lab Based Training
Nosocomial InfectionsBaseline performance in maximal barrier precaution technique of Emergency Medicine (EM) residents, certified in CVC placement, is poor Simulation-based training in maximal barrier precaution technique during central venous catheter (CVC) placement will improve baseline performance of EM residents
Lactulose for the Prevention of Nosocomial Infections in Children
Nosocomial InfectionThe purpose of this study is to assess the ability of lactulose, a prebiotic agent, to prevent hospital acquired infection in children
Effect of Metallic Nanoparticles on Nosocomial Bacteria
Nosocomial InfectionsThis research aims to study the properties of metallic nanoparticles"MNPs" (silver nanoparticles "AgNps" and copper nanoparticles "CuNps") on the 2 most common nosocomial bacteria which are highly resistant to antibiotics including Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, to evaluate the growth inhibiting properties of MNPs on all bacterial isolates, to evaluate the biofilm inhibitory effect on biofilm forming bacterial isolates and the synergistic effect of these MNPs in combination with antibiotics on the antibiotic resistant isolates.
Saving Brain in Uganda and Burkina Faso
Poor Performance StatusNeurologic Deficits4 moreThe study will estimate the effect of peer-counseling for exclusive breast feeding (EBF) in the first 6 months of life on cognition and other determinants of human capital formation including behavioral and emotional status; school readiness and attainment; health status; fine and gross motor skills; physical growth; and household economic status.
Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Surgical Activity of Bellvitge University Hospital
Covid19Surgery--Complications1 moreCOVID-19 has been a challenge for hospitals; there was an obvious need to reconvert many spaces in specific areas to attend this pathology, without forgetting the attention to other pathologies and surgery. The objective of the investigators is to evaluate the impact of this pandemic in the patients who underwent surgery in Bellvitge University Hospital, analyzing 2 periods of time: the months before the COVID-19 peak and the COVID-19 peak months.
Incidence of Infection and Mortality by COVID-19 in Specialists
Covid19Health Care Associated Infection3 moreIn this current study the researchers aim to identify the total number of infections and deaths due to COVID-19 and distinguish which are the risk factors most related to COVID-19 infections and deaths in medical personnel in Mexico.
Early Risk Stratification of Patient Hospitalized for SARS-CoV2 Infection: Critical COVID-19 France...
Infection ViralInfection2 moreThe COVID-19 pandemic of SARS CoV2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, COVID-19) infection, which is currently evolving in France, raises many questions about the clinical and biological profile of infected hospitalized patients. If certain biological factors like troponin, BNP (Brain Natriuretic Peptid), or clinical factors like cardiovascular history or oncological history are associated with a worse prognosis, available data comes from studies in Asia for the majority, or including a limited number of patients. Patient stratification remains a major issue for patient sorting and early referral of patients.
Healthcare-associated Infections in Severe COVID-19 During 2020
RespirationArtificial2 moreIn patients who develop ARDS due to SARS-CoV-2 (CARDS), a longer duration of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and ICU stay has been reported compared to ARDS not associated with SARS-CoV-2. Consequently, the days of stay in ICU increase Identifying the risk factors associated with the development of this complication and developing measures aimed at its prevention could have a favorable impact on the clinical course of seriously ill patients.
Bilirubin Increases the Risk of Nosocomial Infection in Cirrhotic Patients
Nosocomial InfectionNosocomial infection (NIs) is a major challenge in healthcare facilities and has been associated with prolonged hospital stay as well as increased morbidity and mortality. This research aimed to estimate the impact of acute decompensation (AD) consequences on the successive risk of nosocomial infections (NIs) and the go after outcome.
An Epidemiological Study on Antimicrobial Treatment of Nosocomial Infections in Clinical Practice...
Nosocomial InfectionThe present study is a retrospective cohort study on patients who suffered a nosocomial infection in major hospitals in Vietnam. Data relating to patient demography include age, gender; medical history; APACHE II score; background conditions, infection details and antimicrobial therapy; and all-caused mortality, time of hospitalization and intensive care. The investigators hypothesis is that antimicrobial treatment inappropriate is highly dependent on incidence of antibiotic resistant pathogens, nonfermentative Gram-negative bacilli and ESBL-producing enterobacteriaceae spp. Variables are demographic characteristics, background conditions, immunosuppressive therapy, antimicrobial susceptibility and inappropriate treatment is explored as possible predictors of mortality.
