BinaxNOW for Evaluating Children for Infection With SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

SARS-CoV2 InfectionCOVID-19

This is a study of the BinaxNOW Covid-19 Ag Card as a method to rapidly identify SARS-CoV-2 infection in asymptomatic children, teachers, and other school staff for exclusion. 240 students and 80 teachers in the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) will be enrolled and can expect to be on study for up to 8 weeks.

Extension Study in a Cohort of Adult Patients With COVID-19 Infection

COVID-19 Infection

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the incidence of post-COVID morbidity and characterize the complications profile in patients who participated in the APLICOV-PC study. APLICOV-PC study was a multicenter, randomized, proof-of-concept clinical trial to assess the safety profile of 3 different dose levels of plitidepsin (1,5 mg, 2,0 mg and 2,5 mg) administered three consecutive days, in adult patients with confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 who require hospital admission.

Corona Virus InfectionSARS-CoV-2 Infection2 more

This study is a 4-arm, multicenter, randomized, partly double- blind, controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of convalescent serum (CP) or camostat mesylate with control or placebo in adult patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 and high risk for moderate/severe COVID-19. The working hypothesis to be tested in the RES-Q-HR study is that the early use of convalescent plasma (CP) or camostat mesylate (Foipan®) reduces the likelihood of disease progression to modified WHO stages 4b-8 in SARS-CoV-2 positive adult patients at high risk of moderate or severe COVID-19 progression. The primary endpoint of the study is the cumulative number of individuals who progressed to or beyond category 4b on the modified WHO (World Health Organization) COVID-19 ordinal scale within 28 days after randomization.

Antiseptic Irrigation for Pleural Infection

Pleural Infection

The antiseptic povidone-iodine can safely be instilled into the pleural for the purpose of pleurodesis. Pleural irrigation with antiseptics is used in adults with open drainage for chronic empyema and has been described in the acute management of paediatric pleural infection. This study will investigate the safety and usefulness of povidone-iodine pleural irrigation in 15 eligible patients recruited to the Pleural Infection Cohort Study (PICS) with acute pleural infection. A matched control group will be used and will be composed of 15 patients previously recruited to PICS without receiving povidone-iodine pleural irrigation.

Study to Evaluate the Safety and Clinical Efficacy of Augmentin® Extra Strength-600 in Children...

Otitis MediaInfections2 more

Augmentin (ES)-600 is a high-dose amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 14:1 formulation that allows administration at 90/6.4 milligrams (mg)/kilograms (kg)/day in two divided doses. Most physicians in India use the standard Augmentin (amoxicillin:clavulanic acid 7:1) (45/6.4 mg/kg/day) formulation and double the dose to achieve higher dose of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid at 90 mg/kg/day in pediatric acute otitis media (AOM) due to non-availability of Augmentin (ES)-600. Using the 7:1 formulation causes unnecessary exposure to higher proportionate dose of clavulanic acid (12.8 mg/kg/day) as a unit dose of 6.4 mg/kg/day of clavulanic acid is only required for efficacy against beta-lactamase producing AOM pathogens. Hence, there is an unmet need for availability of Augmentin (ES)-600 in India. This is an open label, single arm, multicenter, non-comparative study in participants aged 6 months to 12 years with AOM. It aims to assess the safety and clinical efficacy of Augmentin (ES)-600 administered in two divided doses, every 12 hours in pediatric population in India. AUGMENTIN is a registered trademark of the GlaxoSmithKline group of companies.
