The IBD-FITT Study - Moderate-intensity Exercise for IBD Patients With Moderate Disease Activity...

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

The investigators aim to investigate whether exercise therapy during 12 weeks including a lesson on general healthy lifestyle in adult patients with a moderately active disease is more effective, compared to control patients only receiving a lesson on general healthy lifestyle recommendations. The three main categories of outcomes are 1) health-related quality of life, 2) general health status of the patients 3) explorative outcomes. The primary outcome is health-related quality of life, the secondary outcome is general health status measured by waist circumference, disease activity scores, blood pressure, and blood lipids, and the third outcome are explorative outcomes (none-disease specific quality of life scores, biomarkers of C-reactive protein, fecal calprotectin and immunology markers including interleukins).

Autologous Unselected Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Refractory Crohn's Disease

Crohn's DiseaseInflammatory Bowel Diseases1 more

This study evaluates the safety and clinical benefits of a therapeutic approach using the cyclophosphamide (Cy) + thymoglobulin® (ATG) + granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) conditioning regimen followed by autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) rescue in the treatment of refractory Crohn's disease. Adverse events, and clinical and endoscopic conditions will be assessed at different short and long-term time points.

Back-to-back Endoscopy Versus Single-pass Endoscopy and Chromoendoscopy in IBD Surveillance

Inflammatory Bowel DiseasesColorectal Neoplasms

The current international guidelines for CRC surveillance in IBD recommend as first choice the use of chromoendoscopy, and as an alternative high-definition white light endoscopy (HDWLE) for optimal dysplasia detection, based on data from clinical trials. However, data on the superiority of CE over HDWLE are not consistent in literature. The investigators hypothesize that the better performance of CE in some clinical trials is the result of the associated longer procedural time and the fact that every colon segment is examined twice. Currently, no studies have been published evaluating the dysplastic yield of back-to back HDWLE compared to HDWLE with a single pass or CE in patients with IBD. In the present study, the investigators aim to compare the yield of dysplasia/CRC between 1) regular HDWLE, 2) HDWLE back-to-back, and 3) CE.

Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy for Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Considering the limited availability of psychosocial interventions for IBD, this study aims to investigate MBCT as an adjunctive treatment to treatment as usual to reduce psychological stress and improve sleep quality/regularity in patients with IBD who report elevated stress levels. The study will have a follow-up duration of 12 months from baseline.

Safety and Feasibility of ActivSightTM in Human

Acute CholecystitisColorectal Cancer5 more

ActivSightTM combines an innovative form factor and proprietary software to deliver precise, objective, real-time visualization of blood flow and tissue perfusion intraoperatively for laparoscope-based surgery. A small adaptor that fits between any existing laparoscope and camera systems and a separate light source placed along any current commercial system will deliver objective real-time tissue perfusion and blood flow information intraoperatively. Primary Objective: To determine safety and feasibility of ActivSightTM in displaying tissue perfusion in intestinal anastomoses including colorectal and bariatric surgery. Secondary Objective: To determine the efficacy of ActivSightTM in; (1) displaying tissue vascularity and perfusion in comparison to indocyanine green (ICG) during gastrointestinal anastomoses; and (2) displaying biliary tree during laparoscopic cholecystectomy using ICG-based intraoperative cholangiography (IOC).

A Study in Adults With Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Receiving Vedolizumab in the Patient Support...

Ulcerative ColitisCrohn's Disease

The primary reason of this study is to observe current and past treatment in adult participants receiving Vedolizumab, intravenous (IV) or subcutaneous (SC), for IBD in Brazil. There is no treatment involved in this study, this is only an observational review of past and ongoing treatment data relating to Vedolizumab treatment for IBD (including Ulcerative Colitis [UC] and Crohn's Disease [CD]).

Baby Detect : Genomic Newborn Screening

Congenital Adrenal HyperplasiaFamilial Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia 1134 more

Newborn screening (NBS) is a global initiative of systematic testing at birth to identify babies with pre-defined severe but treatable conditions. With a simple blood test, rare genetic conditions can be easily detected, and the early start of transformative treatment will help avoid severe disabilities and increase the quality of life. Baby Detect Project is an innovative NBS program using a panel of target sequencing that aims to identify 126 treatable severe early onset genetic diseases at birth caused by 361 genes. The list of diseases has been established in close collaboration with the Paediatricians of the University Hospital in Liege. The investigators use dedicated dried blood spots collected between the first day and 28 days of life of babies, after a consent sign by parents.

Determining the Relationship Between Gut Microbiota and Immune Response to Influenza or COVID-19...

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

This study will evaluate the effect of the microorganisms in the gut on how well the flu or COVID-19 vaccine works in people who have a weakened immune system due to inflammatory bowel disease. Participants can expect to be in the study for up to 65 days.

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) Cannabis Registry

Crohn DiseaseUlcerative Colitis2 more

The inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), are characterized by lifelong relapsing-remitting gastrointestinal inflammation, with symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding during active disease. Medical therapy reduces intestinal inflammation and ameliorates symptoms. Medical cannabis has recently been added to the arsenal of symptom-reducing measures in IBD. Though the efficacy of THC and CBD have been established as the two most dominant ingredients of cannabis, the rest of the plant phytochemicals are unknown, and effects on patients are not yet determined.
