The purposes of this research study are: to see if there is a difference in the quantity of protective influenza antibodies produced by different doses of the Fluviral vaccine to see if these different vaccine dosing schedules reduce flu-like illness and/or reduce laboratory documented influenza in HIV Infected adults.

Influenza associated pneumonia causes significant morbidity in young HIV-infected children. Although annual vaccination against influenza is recommended for HIV infected children, it has not been implemented as routine care, due to the lack of data on disease burden and vaccine efficacy. This study aims at determining the effectiveness of influenza vaccination in HIV infected children in South Africa.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of an inactivated, non adjuvanted A(H1N1)v influenza vaccine in 120 pregnant women. Study procedures will include 2 doses of vaccine, blood samples, cord blood samples at delivery and recording temperature and vaccine side effects in a memory aid for 7 days following each vaccination. Participants will be involved in study related procedures about 3 at 5 months.

The present study aims to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the new influenza subunit vaccine produced in Madin Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cells in healthy adult and elderly subjects.

The objectives of this Phase I/II study are to assess the safety and immunogenicity of two different dose levels of a non-adjuvanted H5N1 influenza vaccine in a healthy young adult population. Subjects will be randomized 1:1 to receive two intramuscular injections (21 days apart) of the vaccine containing either 3.75 µg or 7.5 µg H5N1 hemagglutinin (HA) antigen in a non-adjuvanted formulation. Subjects will be monitored for safety and for antibody response to the vaccine. A data safety monitoring board will review the safety data after the first and second vaccination.
