Rapid Diagnostic Test for Influenza
InfluenzaThe primary objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the MSD® Influenza Test in detecting influenza A and influenza B in subjects presenting with influenza-like-illness (ILI).
Blood and Plasma Collection For Use in Future Clinical Trials
Influenza A Virus InfectionTreatment options are limited for the treatment of influenza. This study will collect blood from people who have been exposed to the influenza virus or who have received a seasonal influenza vaccine. The blood plasma will be used in a future clinical trial to treat people hospitalized with influenza.
Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes in Patients Diagnosed With Novel Influenza A (H1N1)
InfluenzaThis is study where medical record information will be collected as well as collection of excess biological samples.
Novel Influenza A (H1N1) Surveillance Registry
Novel Influenza AH1N11 moreThe demographic characteristics, clinical features, course, and outcomes of severe H1N1 influenza infection requiring intensive care have not been defined rigorously and systematically. While the majority of patients in early reports of critically ill novel influenza A (H1N1) have respiratory involvement, up to 10-20% may present with non-respiratory organ failures, such as shock, seizures, or acute renal failure. The burden of disease and resource utilization of these patients remains largely unknown. The purpose of this surveillance registry is to characterize the demographics, clinical features, outcomes, and resource utilization of patients with H1N1 influenza infection who require intensive care.
Prospective System Analysis of the Seasonal Influenza Virus Transmissions and Evolution in the City...
InfluenzaThe project aims to use epidemiological tools to understand the transmission and evolution of influenza viruses at an individual and population level within a small-scale city (Basel) through a combination of experimental, clinical, and mathematical advances. Investigators aim to quantitatively characterize the viral transmission using novel molecular-epidemiological tools based on whole genome sequencing.
Extra-pulmonary Clinical Manifestations of Influenza Virus and Respiratory Syncitial Virus Infections...
InfluenzaRespiratory Virus Syncitial1 moreThe purpose of this study is to describe extra-pulmonary clinical manifestations of Influenza virus and Respiratory Syncitial Virus infections in hospitalized adults at a French university hospital.
Realization of the Recommendation for Influenza Vaccination in Pregnant Women
Coverage Rate of Vaccination for InfluenzaIntroduction: In 2010, the vaccination recommendations for pregnant women against seasonal influenza were published by the German Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO). This work deals with the immunization coverage and the influencing factors. Method: A cross-sectional study was realized at two Level 1 perinatal centers in two German federal states during the influenza saisons 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. Pregnant women were interviewed by using a standardized and pre-tested questionnaire covering their knowledge about the influenza vaccination and other factors influencing the vaccination decision. Furthermore, data from the vaccination card and the pregnancy record booklet have been evaluated.
Prospective Analysis of Seasonal Influenza - Viral Transmission and Evolution in the City of Basel,...
InfluenzaInfluenza associated illness has a global annual impact with high morbidity and mortality. Transmission mechanisms and rates are under-investigated and overall poorly understood. This project aims to use epidemiological tools to understand the transmission and evolution of influenza viruses at an individual and population level within a small-scale city (Basel) through a combination of experimental, clinical and mathematical advances. The investigators aim to quantitatively characterize the viral transmission using novel molecular-epidemiological tools based on whole genome sequencing.
Evaluation of Moderate to Severe Influenza Outcomes in Children
InfluenzaOtitis Media4 moreThe purpose of this study was to determine whether moderate-severe endpoints (including high fever, lower respiratory tract disease, acute otitis media, or serious extra-pulmonary complications) were predictive of hospitalization, intensive care admission, antibiotic use and other complications in children under 8 years of age.
Prevalence, Strain Circulation and Disease Burden Study of Seasonal Influenza A and B in Panama,...
InfluenzaHumanThe purpose of this study is to assess the prevalence, strain circulation and disease burden of seasonal Influenza A and B in Panama, selected countries of Central America and the Caribbean from the Year 2010 to 2015.
