Marin Protein Hydrolysate and Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome

Overweight and obesity are increasing global health problems and the most important contributors to morbidity and mortality. The maintenance of long-term weight loss is difficult, and individuals often regain weight after an intervention program is finished. It is of interest to find ways to prevent and alleviate metabolic syndrome (MetS), beyond the known effects of lifestyle modification and weight loss. Fish has been proposed as a food that may have favorable effects on metabolic health. There is evidence that cod, and other marine fish, may contain bioactive peptides that have potentially important health effects in humans. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of adding a marine protein hydrolysate (MPH) supplement to the diet over an 8-week period in a group of adults with established MetS. The investigators expect that this will lead to beneficial changes in the components of MetS and to an overall healthier metabolic profile.

Study to Assess Safety, Tolerability and Pharmacokinetics of Treamid in Healthy Volunteers

Metabolic Syndrome

A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, Phase I clinical study of the safety and tolerability of increasing doses of Treamid after single and repeated oral administration in healthy volunteers. The volunteers received the study drug once, and then continued daily intake for 14 days after a 6-day break. The primary objective of the study was to evaluate the safety and tolerability profile of Treamid after single and multiple administration based on the frequency and severity of adverse events and changes in vital signs, laboratory results, electrocardiography and results of the physical examination. The secondary objective of the study was to assess pharmacokinetics of active pharmaceutical substance of Treamid.

The Effect of Metabolic Syndrome on Antiviral Response in People With Chronic Hepatitis B

Chronic Hepatitis b

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) affects an estimated 292 million people, and causes approximately 800,000 people deaths per year from liver-related complications including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, remaining a major global public health issue.Meanwhile, the rising incidence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) is another grim health burden. Combined MetS affects the metabolic function of hepatocytes, which are responsible for providing HBV replication. Antiviral therapy is an effective measure to reduce the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer in patients with chronic CHB. Combined MetS may affect the antiviral efficacy in patients with CHB.This prospective observational study examines the differences in HBeAg serological conversion rates between HBeAg-positive CHB patients with and without MS who received first-line oral antivirals for 144 weeks.

Empowering Consumers to 'PREVENT' Diet-related Diseases Through 'OMICS' Sciences

OverweightObesity1 more

The over-all aim of this 10-week randomized-controlled study, taking place only in Denmark, is to examine whether the PREVENTOMICS platform integrated in an e-commerce digital tool created to deliver personalized meals and dietary advices is able to produce more favorable health effects than meals based on general dietary recommendations in overweight subjects with elevated waist circumference.

Explore the Effect of Diet Intervention on Lipid Metabolism and Body Mass Index Among the Patients...

Metabolic Syndrome

The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) is increasing all over the world, which is largely related to the increasing obesity population and the current inactive lifestyle of human beings. It is a common problem facing public health and clinical practice.Metabolic syndrome is an accumulation of biologically metabolic risk factors related to cardiovascular disease and diabetes, including glucose metabolism disorders, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity (especially central obesity).Researchers believe that the common pathological basis of these manifestations is insulin resistance, which is generally considered to be a reduction in the biological effects of insulin compared with the normal biological effects of expected biological phenomena.Nowadays, there are more and more studies on insulin resistance in the world. We have known that age, poor living and eating habits, high blood fat, high blood sugar and stress all lead to insulin resistance. The researchers hope to reduce weight, reduce body fat rate, improve body fat distribution and insulin resistance, reverse abnormal metabolic indicators, and ultimately reduce the incidence of chronic diseases in patients with metabolic syndrome through the intervention of lifestyle and diet habits in the early stage of the disease.

Effect of Blueberry Consumption on Metabolic Syndrome & DNA Damage

Metabolic SyndromeInsulin Resistance1 more

Obesity usually brings with it disturbances in the body that increase the chances of developing serious diseases like diabetes and cancer. These disturbances include one or more symptoms of a condition called "metabolic syndrome" that often leads to diabetes. High levels of damage to the DNA that makes up our chromosomes have also been observed in obese people. It is possible that these two disturbances are connected. The goal of this project is to test this whether consumption of blueberries will improve these abnormalities.
