However, in people with disabilities, inactivity is even more frequently reported. Physical activity on prescription (PAP) is a well-established method to enhance physical activity. The prescribed physical activity can be activities such as walking, cycling, swimming, or gardening, and should be performed over a longer period. In children with cerebral palsy, PAP has shown to be feasible to increase participation in physical activity and to reduce sedentary behaviour, and the habilitation services in the Region of Skåne have decided to offer PAP to all children and youth with disabilities. It is of great importance to study these interventions when applied on a broader group of patients than previously studied. The aim is to study the effects of an individualised and health-enhancing intervention in physically inactive people with autism, intellectual and physical disabilities. Also, the cost-effectiveness of PAP will be studied. 60 physically inactive children, aged 8- 17 years, and 20 adults, with autism, intellectual or physical disability will be included. The participants are recruited by their clinical physiotherapists, who also will be carrying out the PAP-intervention. The self-selected physical activity/activities may either be a physical activity organized by a club and/or an everyday activity such as walking a dog or riding a bicycle to school. Each participant fills in an activity logbook. Motivational interviewing will be used to support the participants. The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure can be used to identify what activities the participants are motivated to do, and to detect changes in the participants' perception of their performance of the activity. Quality of life will be monitored. Physical activity will be measured through the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and a movement monitor (accelerometer). Study specific questionnaires will be filled in regarding costs and background information. Data on health care use of the participants will retrospectively be collected and studied using the health care database in Region Skåne. Data will be collected at 3 months prior to the intervention, just before the intervention starts, when the intervention is finished, and at 6, 12 and 24 months after the intervention. The study has been approved by the Swedish Ethical Review Authority.

Evaluation of a Home-based Parenting Support Program: Parenting Young Children
Intellectual DisabilityAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder1 moreBackground: Parents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) have a tendency to provide insufficient caregiving and often need parenting support to prevent neglect and child removal. However, parents with IDDs are not provided with appropriate support, and there is a lack of evidence-based programmes tailored to these parents' needs. Parenting Young Children (PYC) is a home-based parenting programme developed for parents with IDDs. PYC has shown promising clinical results in interview-based studies, but there is no evidence of its effectiveness. The purpose of the proposed study is to evaluate the PYC programme for improving parenting in parents with IDDs where there is risk of child neglect. The study will include a quantitative evaluation, a process evaluation, and a qualitative evaluation of the children's and parents' perspectives on participating in PYC. Methods: The quantitative evaluation will have a multi-centre, non-randomised, comparative study design. Eligible for participation are parents with IDDs who have children aged 0-9 years living at home and who are assessed as needing tailored parenting support. Thirty parents receiving PYC and thirty parents receiving treatment as usual (TAU) will be recruited from Swedish municipal social services. Outcome variables will be examined before and after the intervention, with a follow-up 6 months after completing the intervention. The primary outcome will be goal-attainment in parenting skills, and secondary outcomes will be parental self-efficacy and children's wellbeing. Interview methods will be used to explore the perspectives of parents and children in the PYC group. Discussion: This study is motivated by the need for evidence-based support for parents with IDDs, and it focuses on upholding the centrality of child-caregiver relationships and family preservation, as well as children's rights and the rights of people with disabilities. Social services have expressed ethical concerns with employing a randomized design for this vulnerable group, and this study will therefore evaluate PYC in a non-randomized comparative study.
FAB Programme for Parents of Children With NDD

The study will involve 154 Cantonese-speaking parents of children aged 2-6 years diagnosed with NDD in Hong Kong. The study hopes to find that FAB can improve parent-child dyads' health outcomes by enhancing psychological flexibility, parental psychological health, and mindful parenting skills.

Therapy-Based Games' Effects on Motor and Cognitive Skills in Intellectual Disabilities
Intellectual DisabilityIndividuals with intellectual disabilities face challenges in areas of attention, motor skills, and awareness. Among the problems they experience are difficulties in focusing, transitioning from one activity to another, performing tasks in sequence in skills such as copying, reading, and writing. Additionally, they tend to form sentences with misarranged words. Generally, they may present with disorganized or weak handwriting. Other reported issues in this population include coordination problems in extremities and balance disturbances. These essential life skills can impede the individual's ability to move safely. With the recent integration of technology into rehabilitation, new intervention and assessment methods have emerged for occupational therapists. Systems like Microsoft Kinect, Nintendo Wii, Xbox, and Leap Motion are being used in these methods. In the literature, Kwok et al. included 73 participants aged between 60-85 in their study. They examined the connection between swinging speeds while standing on both feet on a balance board and the risk of falling. They concluded that the anterior-posterior swing speed measure derived from the Wii Balance Board (WBB) could complement current clinic-based measurements in predicting future falls among community-dwelling older adults. Reviewing the literature, technological rehabilitation applications are observed to be used in various patient groups. However, studies on occupational therapy-based technological rehabilitation interventions in individuals with intellectual disabilities are limited. To our knowledge, there isn't a study evaluating awareness, cognitive, and physical skills in intellectually disabled individuals using Leapmotion, Xbox, Balanceboard sensors, and mobile games. Based on this information, the aim of our study is to investigate the effects of occupational therapy-based rehabilitative games on motor skills, proprioception, and cognitive functions in individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Pai.ACT - An Artifical Intellegience Driven Chatbot Assisted ACT
Autism Spectrum DisorderAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder5 moreLimited psychological support for parents of children with special needs in Hong Kong can profoundly impact the child rehabilitation process and the well-being of parent-child dyads. Leveraging previous evidence from our team's research, we have developed Pai.ACT, the first deep learning-based mental health advisory system for parents. Pai.ACT incorporates the counselling logic of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) through natural language processing, enabling parents to engage in human-like voice-to-text conversations and receive assessments and stepped-care mental health interventions, including guided self-help materials and real-time, individual-based counselling based on ACT. Following the research and development phases, we aim to kick off the utilisation of Pai.ACT by (1) pilot-testing its feasibility, acceptability, and potential efficacy in improving mental health outcomes for parents of children with special needs and (2) researching to determine the most optimal service model for parents by exploring their perceptions through focus group interviews. Pai.ACT offers accessible and comprehensive mental health services to all Chinese-speaking parents, addressing their psychological burden in caring for children with special needs. Pai.ACT could bring substantial and enduring societal benefits to Chinese-speaking families by integrating mental health support services for family caregivers with current child rehabilitation services and non-governmental organisations. Furthermore, this could contribute to reducing the public stigma attached to special needs children while increasing mental health awareness.

Intervention Utilizing a Computerized Cognitive Rehabilitation Program (D-kit/EF1)

Participants will use the D-kit/EF1 program on an iOS device 5 times a week for 30 minutes each session, for a duration of 12 weeks. Researchers will compare treatment group that uses D-kit/EF1 with sham group that watches educational videos on the same iOS device.
