Early Foley Catheter Removal After Diverticular Colovesical Fistula Repair
Colovesical FistulaPatients undergoing surgical repair of colovesical fistula will have have "early" (post-operative day 3) cystogram and removal of bladder catheter. Outcomes from the "early" group will be compared to historical "late" group data to determine if early bladder catheter removal is safe.
Vitamin C and Zinc in Patients With Enterocutaneous Fistulas.
Enterocutaneous FistulasVarious micronutrients play an important role in the process of closure and recurrence of enterocutaneous fistulas, such as Vitamin C and Zinc. However, there is no specific recommendation on the dose of these nutrients by parenteral route.
Chyme Reinfusion for Type 2 Intestinal Failure
Intestinal FailureEnterocutaneous Fistula1 moreThis project aims to introduce and evaluate a novel assistive prosthetic system that helps prevent and treat nutrient and fluid loss from enterocutaneous fistulas. The device system functions simply to return the output from a fistula back into the distal limb of the intestine.
RCT of Two Noncrosslinked Porcine Acellular Dermal Matrices in Ab Wall Reconstruction
HerniaVentral3 moreThe purpose of the study is to compare the clinical outcomes of two commonly used, FDA-approved biologic meshes in hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction (Strattice and XenMatrix). The two meshes are derived from pig skin from which cells have been removed and which have been sterilized. The two meshes are made by two different companies using different processes.
Intralipid Versus SMOFlipid in HPN Patients
Short Bowel SyndromeIntestinal Fistula2 moreThis study will randomize all patients who are new to the Mayo Clinic HPN team to either standard lipid emulsion (Intralipid) or SMOFLipid.
Safety and Efficacy of AST-120 in Mild to Moderate Crohn's Patients With Fistulas
Inflammatory Bowel DiseaseIntestinal FistulaThe objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the experimental drug AST-120 in treating patients with mild to moderately severe Crohn's disease who have fistulas. The study will test whether or not patients receiving AST-120 experience a greater reduction in number of draining fistulas and improvement of their other Crohn's disease symptoms versus patients who receive placebo (material that does not contain any active medication).
Autologous Fibrin Glues for Fistulas Closure
Enterocutaneous FistulasIntra-abdominal InfectionAdjuvant use of fibrin glue in the fistula tract may promote healing in low-output enterocutaneous fistulas. However, there are only few studies that report autologous glue application in a larger patient group or clinical-controlled studies in this setting. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of autologous platelet-rich fibrin glue (PRFG) in the treatment of low-output digestive fistulas and compare them with conservative management without the use of adjuvant application of FG into the fistulous tract.
Teduglutide for Enterocutaneous Fistula (ECF)
Postoperative FistulaThe purpose of this study is to determine whether Teduglutide is safe and feasible to be given for the treatment of enterocutaneous fistula (ECF). The hypothesis is that the drug will be well tolerated and will improve the volume of daily ECF output as well as improve the functional quality of life.
Assessment of Relation Between Recurrence of Enterocutaneous Fistula and Preoperative C-reactive...
Enterocutaneous FistulaA prospective study of 40 patients admitted with the diagnosis of enterocutaneous fistula and prepared for definite surgical repair in the form of resection anastomosis of ECF. The investigators used preoperative serum C-reactive protein as predicting factor to recurrence and independent variable for timing of surgery.
Adipose Derived SVF for Aero-digestive & Enterocutaneous Fistulae
Tracheoesopharyngeal FistulaBronchoesophageal Fistula1 moreDetermine safety and feasibility of using institutionally prepared autologous, uncultured SVF on patients with aerodigestive and enterocutaneous fistulae secondary to malignancy, trauma or surgery.
