Retrospective Evaluation of the Effect of Iron (Fe) Infusion on Complications in Anemic Patients...

Iron Deficiency AnemiaIron Deficiency Anemia Treatment

In patients who underwent thoracotomy due to lung malignancy; It is desired to investigate whether there is a difference in terms of postoperative results between those with and without anemia, and those with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) who underwent intravenous iron replacement and those who did not, according to the hemoglobin value in their preoperative examinations.

Non-invasive Optical Detection of Iron Deficiency

AnemiaIron-Deficiency

This study aims to evaluate a prototype device detecting zinc protoporphyrin-IX fluorescence non-invasively from the intact oral mucosa. Zinc protoporphyrin-IX is an established indicator of iron deficiency. The prototype device is used to measure the erythrocyte zinc protoporphyrin-IX/heme ratio for women after delivery, a study group chosen because of an elevated risk of iron deficiency. The results from the non-invasive measurements are compared to reference measurements of the erythrocyte zinc protoporphyrin-IX/heme ratio from residual blood samples from the same patients and to other indicators of iron status, including hemoglobin, ferritin, serum iron, transferrin, transferrin saturation and soluble transferrin receptor. Pregnancy Outcome in Women With an Iron Deficiency in the First Trimester

Iron Deficiency

The primary aim of this retrospective, monocentric study with two parallel groups is to investigate pregnancy outcome in women with iron deficiency in the first trimester. It compares the pregnancy outcome between pregnant women with an iron deficiency and those without an iron deficiency in the first trimester. The study group are pregnant women with a diagnosed iron deficiency in the first trimester, a total of 227 pregnant women. The control group consists of 486 pregnant women without first-trimester iron deficiency. Matching criteria include parity and maternal age. Data from patient files of pregnant women who were treated in the Women's Clinic, University Hospital Basel between 2017 and 2019 are analyzed.

Observational Study on the Use of IV (Intravenous) Iron Therapy Among Subjects With Iron Deficiency...

Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA)

The primary objective of this study is to compare the total costs to sites and payers of administering IV iron over the 30-day observation period for subjects with IDA who receive Ferric Carboxymaltose (FCM) relative to those who receive iron sucrose, iron dextran, and ferumoxytol.

Prevalence of Oral Manifestations of Iron Deficiency Anemia in a Sample of Egyptian Population

Iron Deficiency Anemia

According to WHO Reportin 2002, iron deficiency anemia was considered to be the most important contributing factor to the global burden of anemia. Children and women in reproductive ages are more at risk factor for developing iron deficiency anemia. No previous study has been held to assess prevalence of oral manifestations of iron deficiency anemia as a hospital-based cross-sectional study on a sample of Egyptian patients in hematology department (no previous data recorded).

Prevalence Study of Iron Deficiency in Patients With Cancer

Iron-deficiency

Despite its high prevalence, a recent study conducted by Prof. Cacoub (unpublished) on the french national health insurance database showed that iron deficiency was an underdiagnosed and under-treated co-morbidity. In inflammatory situations, especially during cancer, the measurement of the transferrin saturation factor is only performed in about 10% of cases whereas this measure is recommended in inflammatory situations including cancer (French Health High Authority 2011)

Measures to Increase the Effectiveness of Fast Track Colorectal Clinics for Iron Deficiency Anaemia....

Colorectal Cancer

A retrospective cohort study was conducted from 2016-18 in a single busy district general hospital providing services to a population of 700,000 people. In the study, patients with true IDA (low MCV and ferritin) were found to be more likely to have Colorectal cancer compared to any other type of anaemia which confirmed the latest guidelines for management of IDA. Compared to symptoms, only the presence of a mass on abdominal examination and rectal examination was found to be more likely associated with cancer.
