Non-weight Bearing in Hip Joint With Accompanying Joint Pain Might Not Progress Radiographic OA...

Hip OA

As we have previously reported, the primary cause of hip OA with accompanying joint pain might be bone alterations which can be microfracture. In order to prove it, it is planned that conservative treatment will be performed on the hip OA patients with accompanying joint pain for the first year. For the second year, if the patients still have joint pain, they will do non-weght bearing walk.

Intra-articular I-PRF Injections in Patients With Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction

Temporomandibular Joint DisordersTemporomandibular Joint Pain

The aim of the study will be to analyze the results of injection treatment in patients diagnosed with temporomandibular joint dysfunction manifested by pain and/or limited jaw mobility. The treatment will consist in the administration of autologous blood products into the cavities of the temporomandibular joints.

Telerehabilitation for TMD

Temporomandibular DisorderTMJ Disc Displacement With Reduction4 more

This study will compare after physical therapy for Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) performed either in-person or virtually using telerehabilitation. Comparing diagnostic reliability and quality-of-life outcomes in each group will determine (based on a 10% margin) whether delivering physical therapy via telerehabilitation is as good as standard in-person care for these individuals. Long term outcomes including patient satisfaction, cost-effectiveness analysis, and functional status will describe the feasibility of telerehabilitation as a management intervention for this population.

Survivin as Predictive Biomarker for RA

Rheumatoid ArthritisArthralgia1 more

Purpose: to examine the possibility of using the onco-protein survivin as a predictive biomarker for identifying individuals at risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis within a cohort of patients seeking treatment for joint pain/stiffness. Secondly, to study survivin as a prognostic marker for joint destruction, refractory and highly active disease in patients with established RA.

Patient Observational Pain and Activity Survey (POPAS) Study Using RS-4i Sequential Stimulator With...

Osteoarthritis

Spine pain and joint pain are among the most common worldwide ailments and directly contributes to disability as well as increased duration of care. Spine and joint pain affect work sick leave, production and increased financial costs to healthcare. Non-invasive treatments for spine and joint pain can vary widely from lifestyle changes, physical therapy, oral medication, and select medical devices, that can improve pain level and help improve the quality of life of individuals. Thus, the general population suffers from an ailment that has multiple conservative treatment options with variable outcomes. Transcutaneous Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (TENS) has been show to decrease pain and restore function. Interferential therapy (INF) is a specific signal type that is effective for reducing musculoskeletal pain. Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) uses a specific signal type to cause muscles to contract and therefore provide functional improvement. The RS-4i Plus is an FDA-regulated prescription TENS medical device that outputs an INF signal and a NMES signal, and a unique Intersperse signal, which combines NMES and INF into a single treatment. Therefore, the goal of this study is to determine if use of the prescribed RS-4i Plus in patients presenting with pain, axial or peripheral joint, can be efficacious in decreasing the patient's pain and improving their activity measured at one month, three months, and six months of use.

Evaluate the Effect of Dry Needling on the Temporomandibular Joint in Subjects Who Have Suffered...

WhiplashTemporomandibular Joint Pain1 more

The transportation industry is growing rapidly and the most popular mode is overland by road. Traffic accidents are the most direct and serious risk to the lives of Western people. A large number of traffic accidents occur on the roads each year, especially those caused by motor vehicles on motorways and urban ring roads, often resulting in massive loss of life. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1.35 million people die each year worldwide. Whiplash is the most common injury in motor vehicle collisions, affecting 83% of injured people. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is one of the most complex joints in the human body, since in addition to performing functions in dental occlusion, it does so in the neuromuscular system. Due to the relationship of the neck with the mandible, the main objective of the study is to determine if there is an improvement in pain and functional limitation in general by applying the dry needling technique in the temporomandibular joint musculature.

Pilot Observational Study Examining the Effect of Endocrine Therapy on Aging

Breast Neoplasm FemaleArthralgia1 more

The goal of this pilot observational study is to learn about the feasibility of collecting patient-reported data and stool and blood samples from patients age 65 and older treated with aromatase inhibitor therapy for breast cancer. Participants will be treated with standard of care aromatase inhibitor therapy and will undergo serial phlebotomy, complete patient-reported questionnaires, and submit serial stool samples. The main exploratory translational questions it aims to obtain preliminary data for are: What are the effects of aromatase inhibitor therapy on biomarkers of aging? What are the effects of aromatase inhibitor therapy on the microbiome? These data will be used for the development of future definitive studies.
