Reconstitution of a Human Immune System in a Patient Derived Xenograft (PDX) Model of Genitourinary...
Genito Urinary CancerBladder Cancer2 moreThe objective of this study is to obtain human blood CD34+ hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) to reconstitute a match human immune system in our PDX model. The hypothesis is that by using matched leukocytes and PDX from the same patient, rejection of the PDX by the host immune system will not be observed and therefore a preclinical model to study immunotherapy can be developed to study, understand and improve upon our current therapies. HSPCs will be collected from bone marrow aspirate obtained from a bone marrow biopsy. The secondary objective is to use patient tumor biopsy samples or circulating tumor cell samples to develop additional preclinical models of GU cancers, particularly prostate cancer, that are clinically relevant by generating additional PDXs.
Safety Study With the Antibody, cG250, and Isotope, 124-Iodine, to Diagnose Patients With Renal...
Cancer of KidneyKidney Cancer6 moreThe purpose of this study is to see if an antibody (cG250) attached to a radioactive substance (Iodine-124) safely detects clear cell renal cancer in patients with kidney tumors scheduled for surgery.
Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound for Kidney Cancer Subtyping and Staging
Kidney CancerThe purpose of this study is to determine if contrast-enhanced ultrasound can detect abnormal features of kidney lesions in patients with suspected kidney cancer with the same accuracy as conventional ultrasound and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Contrast-enhanced Ultrasound as a Screening Tool for Kidney Cancer in Patients With Von-Hippel Lindau...
Von-Hippel LindauKidney Disease1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine if contrast-enhanced ultrasound can detect abnormal features of kidney lesions in patients with Von-Hippel Lindau with the same accuracy as conventional ultrasound and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Evaluating Renal Masses Using Ultrasound Intravenous Microbubble Contrast
Renal CancerKidney CancerThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the blood flow in kidney masses by using ultrasound microbubble contrast material, and to see if results from ultrasound contrast studies can predict if a kidney mass is benign or malignant. Patterns of blood flow in the kidney mass will be examined to see if: benign kidney masses can be distinguished from kidney cancers and if slow growing, lower risk cancers have different blood flow compared to clear cell cancer which is the most common type of kidney cancer.
Early Enteral Tube Feedings in Children Receiving Chemo for AML/MDS & High Risk Solid Tumors
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsKidney Cancer5 moreRATIONALE: Tubefeeding may help maintain good nutrition and lessen weight loss in younger patients receiving chemotherapy for cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well tube feedings work in younger patients receiving chemotherapy for newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, or high-risk solid tumors.
Social Media Listening in Improving Clinical Trial Recruitment in Patients With Cancer
Breast CarcinomaColon Carcinoma4 moreThis pilot clinical trial studies how well social media listening works in improving clinical trial recruitment in patients with cancer. Social media listening and recruitment on Twitter may enhance enrollment for cancer-related clinical trials.
Effect on Pre-operative Anxiety of a Personalized Three-dimensional Kidney Model Prior to Nephron-sparing...
Kidney NeoplasmsCarcinoma1 moreInvestigators aimed to estimate the effect of showing and handling a three-dimensional modelization of a patient's kidney presenting with tumor the day before his nephron-sparing surgery. The main outcome measure was the effect on anxiety assessed via the STAI score. 2 types kidney models (virtual and printed) will be evaluated as compared to usual information, using a randomization.
Pillars4Life Trial
Breast CancerLung Cancer10 moreThis study aims to explore whether cancer patients can benefit from completing the Pillars4Life online coping program. This randomized control trial will have half its subject completing the program and the other half receiving standard care in order to measure whether the program is beneficial in dealing with stress, anxiety, and particularly chronic pain that often accompany a cancer diagnosis.
Minocycline Attenuate Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction and Delirium
Prostate CancerCarcinoma of the Rectum2 morePostoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) and postoperative delirium occurs mainly in aged patients. POCD and POD may increase the mortality and morbidity. However, the mechanism of POCD is not clear yet and no effective therapy method was proved. According to previous study, the neuroinflammation is the main reason both for POCD and POD. Minocycline is a tetracycline derivative. Due to it's lipophilic structure, it is easy to pass through blood brain barrier and attenuate neuroinflammation. It's neuroprotective effects has been proven in many experimental animal models such as Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease and Parkinson's syndrome. In present study, the investigators hypothesized that minocycline would attenuate the incidence of POCD and POD in the aged patients.
