Preventing Knee Injuries in Adolescent Female Football Players
Knee InjuryFootball-related knee injuries are common and especially the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury constitute a serious problem in football regardless of the playing level. The purpose of this study is to conduct a randomized controlled trial evaluating the effect of a training program designed to prevent acute knee injury in female adolescent football players. The investigators' hypotheses are: a preventive training program reduces the incidence of ACL injury, and a high match frequency and match play at senior level increase the risk of ACL injury.
The Design and Evaluation of an Active Intervention for the Prevention of Non-contact ACL Injury...
Athletic InjuriesSprains and Strains2 moreThe overall goal of this project is to reduce the risk for anterior cruciate ligament injuries by designing a targeted intervention that will alter the known kinematic and kinetic risk factors associated with ACL injuries.
Prevention of Musculoskeletal Injuries in Slovenian Armed Forces
Knee Injuries and DisordersAnkle Injuries and Disorders1 morePhysical readiness of military personnel is a cornerstone of any army, as soldiers are expected to meet high physical demands on a daily basis, and soldiers must complete one hour of physical conditioning each day. Participation in physical conditioning increases the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, and our 10-year retrospective analysis shows that 5% of soldiers sustain a sports injury during physical conditioning each year, and that ankle and knee injuries have the highest incidence rates of 25% and 20%, respectively. The primary objective of our study is to decrease the rate of ankle and knee injuries by implementing a preventive training program. The study is designed as a prospective randomized controlled trial with two arms (experimental and control).
Opioid Reduction Program for Total Knee Replacement Patients
Knee InjuriesKnee Injuries and Disorders1 moreIn the context of prescribed opioids, research suggests that increased exposure is associated with long-term opioid use. Orthopedic surgeries are associated with the prescribing of more opioid narcotics than any other surgical specialty, particularly for Total Knee Replacement surgery, which is associated with severe post-operative pain. The proposed project is a randomized clinical trial to explore the efficacy of our Total Knee Replacement Opioid Reduction Program (ORP) vs. Treatment As Usual (TAU) in the reduction of opioid use following total knee replacement surgery.
Real-time Optimized Biofeedback Utilizing Sport Techniques
Knee InjuriesThis study will identify the most optimal, focused approach for biofeedback in adolescent females at high risk for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. A six-week randomized, pre/post-testing design will be used to identify biofeedback training effects. The investigators will also determine the effects of hip strategy on retention of decreased knee abduction load with focused biofeedback. A six-month follow-up design will be used to test retention of real-time biofeedback intervention.
Using Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) to Treat Chronic Post-surgical Pain (CPSP) After Knee Surgery...
Injury; NervePeripheral8 moreSPRINT PNS System will be offered to patients with postoperative knee pain following primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) who meet eligibility criteria and consistent with established coverage policy. SPRINT PNS System will be implanted for 60 days. At the discretion of the physician, the first lead may be placed to stimulate the nerve innervating the region of greatest pain. If pain is not adequately addressed by the first lead when assessed at 10 days, a second lead may be placed approximately 2 weeks following the initial lead placement.
In Vivo Kinematics for Subjects Having a MicroPort Medial Pivot or DePuy Attune PCR TKA
Total Knee ArthroplastyOsteo Arthritis Knee2 moreIn vivo knee kinematics will be assessed for 20 subjects that have been implanted with either a MicroPort Medial Pivot or DePuy Attune posterior cruciate retaining (PCR) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) by Dr. Russell Nevins of Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center [this is the location from which participants will be recruited].
Effect of Loading of Midazolam or Dexmedetomidine on Hemodynamics
Knee InjuriesLoading dose of dexmedetomidine is related hemodynamic instability such as bradycardia and hypertension.
Opiates Prescribing for Knee Arthroscopies and ACL Reconstruction
Knee InjuriesACL InjuryThe purpose of the study is to determine if opiates are required to achieve adequate analgesia after knee arthroscopy and ACL reconstruction in outpatient surgery. The investigators hypothesize that patients are frequently prescribed more opiates than are needed after surgery, resulting in excess medications that are at risk for misuse, diversion and contribution to the opioid epidemic.
Effect of PRP Injection After Arthroscopic Meniscal Repair in the Healing Process
Knee PainKnee InjuriesThe investigator's hypothesis was that intra-articular knee injection with PRP in patients underwent arthroscopic meniscal repair and didn't receive intra-surgical PRP, may add beneficial effect on post-meniscal repair outcomes regarding pain, functional state of the operated knee as well as healing process.
