Smith & Nephew's first edition of the Journey posterior stabilizing total knee arthroplasty was analyzed by the Center for Musculoskeletal Research in a past research study, and it was determined that subjects experienced more normal-like kinematic patterns. They also achieved excessive axial rotation and a decrease in weight-bearing knee flexion. Since Smith & Nephew has made modifications to the Journey bi-cruciate stabilizing (BCS) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) design, researchers will again evaluate the kinematics of subjects implanted with the revised design to determine if subjects experience normal-like kinematic patterns and if greater weight-bearing knee flexion is achieved. The objective for this study is to analyze the in vivo kinematics for subjects implanted with a 2nd generation Journey BCS TKA and compare those patterns to subjects having a normal knee and those having the 1st generation Journey posterior stabilizing (PS) TKA that were analyzed in the previous study.

Epidemiology, a word derived from the Greek epi (on) demos (people), is a scientific discipline in the area of medicine that studies the distribution, frequency and determining factors of chemical diseases in defined human populations. It is the method of problem solving research used by epidemiologists, scientists, statisticians, doctors, and other health professionals to get to the root of health problems in a community. Beyond the important role of descriptive epidemiology in generating etiological hypotheses, it also provides a description of the frequency and / or patterns of disease occurrence at the individual or social level. In the field of medicine and physiotherapy, epidemiological studies of musculoskeletal injuries acquire great relevance considering that they are the main cause of disability, increasing their prevalence year after year and carrying high economic and social costs. Worldwide, the Epidemiology of musculoskeletal pathologies has been reported in both the general population and specific populations. Despite the fact that kinesiology has been an established profession in Argentina since the 1940s, there is an evident lack of scientific information on this discipline. Currently, epidemiological reports of published musculoskeletal pathologies are scarce in our country. To our knowledge, the characteristics of the population of patients with musculoskeletal injuries who attend a private sports kinesiology office are not known. A study of these characteristics could help to better understand this population, improving routine clinical practice, as well as providing a database for the development of future scientific studies. For this reason, the main objective of this study is to describe the characteristics of the patients who come to an external kinesiology office at a private institution in Argentina. The secondary objective is to evaluate the relationship between the body mass index (BMI) and the affected body regions.

Background and justification: Women's football has a percentage of knee injury of 31.8%, and the anterior cruciate ligament lesion is between 2 and 4 times higher than the male. Injury prevention programs seek to improve the control of the neuromuscular recruitment, dynamic valgus and lumbopelvic stabilization. Recently Cibulka and Bennett have proposed a new prevention theory based on the strengthening of the external abductor and hip rotator muscles. The objective of this study is to design and carry out a physiotherapy program based on the prevention of modifiable risks factors. Design: Controlled clinical trial Methodology: 2 groups were formed, the first or experimental integrated by the female players from football team called CD Oliver (CDO), and control, integrated by the female players of the first team SD Huesca (SDH). The investigators will carried out an initial and final evaluation in which they will be collected data on variables of injury incidence, muscle length and torque. A physiotherapy program will be implemented that will consider three areas of weekly action during training, preventive force sessions, compensatory force sessions and physiotherapy sessions.

In Vivo Kinematics for Subjects Implanted With Klassic Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA)

In vivo knee kinematics will be assessed for 20 subjects that have been implanted with a Total Joint Orthopedics Klassic knee system by Dr. Aaron Hofmann of the Hofmann Arthritis Institute's Center for Precision Joint Replacement. This is the location from which all participants will be recruited and where fluoroscopy data collection will occur. Participants will undergo fluoroscopic surveillance of their implanted knee using a C-arm fluoroscopic unit while performing a deep knee bend activity at least six months post-operatively.

The researchers believe that improving the accuracy of tunnel position will lead to an improved outcome in ACL surgery. The researchers' purpose is to perform a controlled study on a series of 500 patients in two groups: group I (250 cases) using conventional instrumentation and group II (250 cases) using navigation (Surgetics ACL Julliard protocol).

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a frequent and disabling injury in athletes. Most of the time, ACL reconstruction (ACLR) is consider for regaining function and returning to preinjury sports while reducing the risk of secondary injuries. However, the risk of secondary severe knee injury is increased after ACLR, especially in athletes returning to strenuous activities. If strength symmetry is considered as an important factor in the Return-to-sport (RTS) decision, there is conflicting data about the association between strength symmetry and the risk of second knee injury after ACLR. The main objective of this study was to test if knee muscles strength symmetry at 4 months was associated with the psychological readiness and incidence of subsequent severe injury of both knees at a minimum 2 years follow-up after ACL-R.
