Docetaxel, Cisplatin (TP) + Radiation +/- Cetuximab in Larynx Carcinoma (CA)

Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the HypopharynxLarynx Carcinoma

The DeLOS II trial is a multicenter randomised phase II trial investigating a TP/5-Fluorouracil (TPF)-chemotherapy with or without cetuximab for Patients with only by laryngectomy operable carcinoma of the larynx/hypopharynx. Patients were divided in responder or non-responder after 4 weeks. Since August 2009 Responder receive TP with or without Cetuximab + radiation. (Until february 2009 Responder received TPF with or without Cetuximab + radiation.) Planned accrual is 85 patients per treatment arm. The primary study endpoint is a confirmatory proof of an adequate survival rate with a functionally larynx-conserving 2 years after randomisation.

Metastatic Squamous Neck Cancer With Occult Primary Squamous Cell CarcinomaRecurrent Metastatic Squamous Neck Cancer With Occult Primary35 more

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and the best dose of sorafenib tosylate and docetaxel when given together with cisplatin and to see how well they work in treating patients with recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Sorafenib tosylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Sorafenib tosylate may also help cisplatin and docetaxel work better by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drugs. Giving sorafenib tosylate, cisplatin, and docetaxel may be an effective treatment for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.

Advanced Adult Primary Liver CancerCarcinoma of the Appendix87 more

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable solid tumors, including triple-negative breast cancer (currently enrolling only patients with triple-negative breast cancer since 6/8/2007). Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride may help kill more cancer cells by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug.

Erlotinib in Treating Patients With Solid Tumors and Liver or Kidney Dysfunction

Adult Anaplastic AstrocytomaAdult Anaplastic Ependymoma85 more

Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of erlotinib in treating patients who have metastatic or unresectable solid tumors and liver or kidney dysfunction. Biological therapies such as erlotinib may interfere with the growth of tumor cells and slow the growth of the tumor

S0420, Sorafenib in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic Head and Neck Cancer

Metastatic Squamous Neck Cancer With Occult Primary Squamous Cell CarcinomaRecurrent Metastatic Squamous Neck Cancer With Occult Primary35 more

Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth. It may also stop the growth of tumor cells by stopping blood flow to the tumor. This phase II trial is studying how well sorafenib works in treating patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck cance

DAHANCA 28A: Phase I/II Study on Accelerated, Hyperfractionated Radiotherapy With Concomitant Cisplatin...

HNSCC,LarynxPharynx and Oral Cavity

P16 negative cancers continue to have a dismal prognosis despite advances in the treatment of head and neck cancer. Acceleration, dose-escalation, hyperfractionation, chemotherapy and nimorazole has been shown to improve local control. The purpose of the study i to investigate the level of co-morbidity and performance status (PS) that allows the combination of all of the above means of treatment intensification

Iron Repletion in Chronic Cough and Iron Deficiency

CoughLaryngeal Disease2 more

Chronic cough is more frequent and severe in women than in men. Women often have decreased iron stores, due to menses and pregnancies. Aim of the study: to investigate if iron deficiency has a role in chronic cough by favouring airway hypersensitivity to inhaled irritants.

Do Laryngeal Tissue Changes in Patients Suspected of Having Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Predict Response...

Larynx DiseaseGastroesophageal Reflux

The purpose of the study is to determine if tissue changes are predictor of clinical response to therapy. The hypothesis is that the patients who have laryngeal signs and symptoms related to acid reflux, will have ultrastructural changes on a laryngeal biopsy which are predictors of response to therapy.

Induction CT by Cisplatin, 5FU With or Without Docetaxel in Patients With T3 and T4 Larynx and Hypopharynx...

Larynx CancerHypopharynx Cancer

The purpose of the study is to compare two regimen of chemotherapy used as first treatment for patients with larynx or hypopharynx tumors that would be treated with total laryngectomy. The standard treatment is a combination of 2 drugs (Cisplatin and 5FU). The aim of the study is to evaluate the potential benefit of the addition of a third drug (Docetaxel) in the chemotherapy regimen. Patients will receive 3 cycles of chemotherapy. Responders to the induction treatment are treated with radiation with a purpose of larynx preservation. Non responders patients will be treated with total laryngectomy.
