This study will investigate the effectiveness of an optometric follow up of cataract surgery versus an ophthalmic surgeon follow up. It will investigate patient satisfaction,safety and cost.

Cataract is the clouding of the lens of the eye, which initially prevents clear vision and eventually progresses to blindness if left untreated. Cataract remains the leading cause of blindness and an important cause of visual impairment across the globe. Cataract surgery by ultrasonic phacoemulsification is the most common surgery practiced in France (600 000/year) Two sub-categories of phacoemulsification coexist : Endocapsulars techniques represented by Divide-and-Conquer and Phaco-Chop ; and Supracapsular techniques mainly represented by Subluxation (similar to Tilt-and-Tumble) The corneal endothelium plays an important role in maintaining the dehydrated state and the transparency of the cornea. Some degree of endothelial cell loss invariably occurs in all types of cataract surgery but the amount of endothelial cell loss may varies with the type of surgical technique The aim of the study is to evaluate the density of the central corneal endothelial cells before and after cataract surgery comparing two phacoemulsification techniques (Divide-and-Conquer vs Subluxation)

This study is a single-center, prospective, randomized, controlled trial. To investigate if preoperative using of eye patch will decrease emergence agitation, and to provide a better method of decreasing emergence agitation to pediatric ophthalmic anesthesiologists.

Purpose: To compare the effect of spherical aberration on optical quality in eyes with two different aspherical intraocular lenses Methods: In this prospective, randomized clinical trial 120 eyes of 60 patients underwent phacoemulsification. In patient's eyes an aberration-free aspherical IOL (Aspira-aA; Human Optics) or an aberration-correcting aspherical IOL (Tecnis ZCB00; Abott Medical Optics) were randomly implanted. Objective of this study is the comparative assessment of the beneficial impact of the Viscoat viscoelastic (OVD) and Visthesia OVD on endothelial cells and corneal edema following torsional-ip cataract extraction surgery. Participants will be recruited from the Cataract Service of the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis (UHA) in a consecutive-if-eligible basis. Eligibility criteria include diagnosis of senile cataract with stage 3 nuclear opalescence according to the Lens Opacities Classification System III (LOCS-3) grading scale. By means of a custom computer randomization program all participants will randomly populate two study groups according to the OVD used (ie. viscoat or visthesia).

In this prospective study , a cohort of 58 eyes with congenital cataract from Wenzhou medical university was erolled.33 eyes with congenital cataract was after lensectomy and anterior vitrectomy as post-surger group, 26 eyes without cataract surgery as control group. PURPOSE: To assess the correlation between the change in pupil diameter, age and depth of the anterior chamber after 3 months of cataract surgery both in photopic and mesopic conditions. And study the changes of the pupillary diameter at 3 months after surgery in the two light conditions

Usually following cataract surgery patients would expect to have normal distance vision and not require the use of distance glasses. However, in clinical practice desired vision post cataract surgery is not achieved sometimes. In such cases a piggyback lens is used to enhance the visual outcome. This lens is placed in the ciliary sulcus (space between the iris and the lens). Often this piggyback lens is not the best fit for the ciliary sulcus space and it moves. This study will be using ultrasound biomicroscopy to measure the ciliary sulcus dimensions pre and postoperatively to estimate the normal anatomy and it's variations. Patients in this study will be randomised as to which way the intraocular lens is placed in the eye (horizontally or vertically) at the time of their cataract surgery. Patients requiring cataract surgery in both eyes will be identified from the Eye Hospital at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Patients will be in the study for up to 6 months from being identified as suitable through to the operation in the 2nd eye and a final study visit.
