A Real-World Evidence Study in China of the Catalys Precision Laser System

Cataract

This study is a prospective, single-arm, observational study of the Catalys Precision Laser System in real-world clinical practice. The study will be conducted at one site at the Boao Super Hospital in Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone of Hainan province in China. The study is being conducted to evaluate the overall performance of the Catalys Precision Laser System. One or both eyes of each subject will be included in study. The Catalys system is used as part of cataract surgery to create LASER cuts as intended by the surgeon to aid in cataract surgery, without adversely impacting the risk to the patient. As such, the endpoints of surgeon rating of completeness of corneal incisions, anterior capsulotomy and phacofragmentation and any device related adverse events from the time of Catalys System use to 1-month postoperative follow-up should adequately cover the evaluation of the intended use of the Catalys System.

Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2) 10-year Follow-On

AMDCancer1 more

Background: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts are two eye diseases. They were studied in the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS2) and the AREDS2 Follow-On study. These studies followed the natural course of the diseases. They also provided data on the long-term effects of certain oral supplements on AMD. Objective: To study the long-term effects of oral supplements on several things. These include incidences of lung cancer, development of late AMD, cataract surgery, cognitive function, and cardiovascular events. Eligibility: Former AREDS2 and AREDS2 Follow-On participants Design: Participants will have 1 visit. It will include: An eye exam that tests how well participants can see, measures eye pressure, and checks eye movements. The pupil will be dilated with eye drops. Pictures will be taken of the retina and the inside of the eye. Participants will grip a device in their hand to measure their grip strength. A blood sample will be taken. This will be stored for future genetic research. Cells may be created from the sample. A small sample of skin will be taken. Sponsoring Institution: National Eye Institute

Comparision of Visual Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction Between Two Diffractive Trifocal Intraocular...

Cataract Senile

The purpose of the present study was to compare the clinical outcomes such as visual function, refraction errors and visual quality of patients undergoing cataract surgery with implantation of two different models of diffractive trifocal IOLs: RayOne Trifocal (Rayner IOL, Ltd.) and AcrySof IQ PanOptix (Alcon Laboratories, Inc.) IOL.

Premium Monovision Versus Other Types of Monovision and Bilateral Trifocal Implantation.

PresbyopiaRefractive Errors1 more

Primary objective of this study was to compare the efficacy of premium monovision with Restor and Panoptix, against other prevalent monovision techniques and against bilateral Panoptix implantation in a sample of patients following lens-extraction surgery.

Clinical Investigation of Two Tecnis Investigational Lenses

CataractCorneal Astigmatism

This study is a 6-month, prospective, multicenter, randomized (1:1:1), subject-masked and evaluator-masked, bilateral clinical investigation of the TECNIS IOL Models C1V000 and C2V000 versus the TECNIS Eyhance™ Model ICB00 IOL. The study will be conducted at up to 15 sites in EU, AU, NZ and/or AP and will enroll up to 225 subjects to achieve approximately 67 bilaterally implanted subjects in each lens group. Allowing for 10% lost-to-follow-up, this will achieve approximately 60 evaluable subjects in each lens group at 1, 3, and 6 months. The eye implanted first will be considered the primary (monocular) study eye.

Comparison Between a Toric Monofocal and Multifocal Intraocular Lens

Cataract

The primary objective of the study is to observe the rotational stability of the implant 30 minutes, one day, 6 weeks, 6 months and 12 months after the implant surgery. In addition, the refraction will be measured as it is directly affected in the event of postoperative rotation. The correlation between postoperative rotation and the following parameters will be determined: PEXS, white-to-white, age, axial length, anterior chamber depth. Visual acuities with and without correction and the best refraction to assess the benefit of the implants will also be investigated.

Cataract and AMD in a Trial of a Multivitamin and Cocoa Extract

CataractAge Related Macular Degeneration

COSMOS-Eye is an ancillary study of the COcoa-Supplement and Multivitamins Outcomes Study (COSMOS; NCT02422745). COSMOS is a randomized clinical trial of cocoa extract supplement (containing a total of 500 mg/d flavanols, including 80 mg (-)-epicatechins), and a standard multivitamin supplement to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer among men aged 60 years and older and women aged 65 years and older. This ancillary study is being conducted among participants in COSMOS and will examine whether the cocoa extract supplement or the multivitamin supplement reduces the risk of cataract and AMD, two leading causes of visual impairment in US men and women.
