Nilotinib Treatment-free Remission Study in CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) Patients

Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia

The main purpose of the study was to investigate whether nilotinib treatment can be safely suspended with no recurrence of CML in selected patients who responded optimally on this treatment

Geriatric Optimization Plan to Improve Survival in Older Adult Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplant...

Acute Lymphoblastic LeukemiaAcute Myeloid Leukemia11 more

This clinical trial tests whether a geriatric optimization plan (GO!) works to improve survival in patients over 60 with a hematologic malignancy or bone marrow failure syndrome eligible for allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant. GO! focuses on creating a tailored and specific plan for each patient to make changes in their daily lives. These may include changes to their diet, sleep, activity, medicines, or even referrals to other providers depending on the patient's needs. Studying survival and quality of life in patients over 60 receiving an allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant may help identify the effects of treatment.

Eltrombopag Olamine in Improving Platelet Recovery in Older Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia...

Acute Myeloid Leukemia With Multilineage Dysplasia Following Myelodysplastic SyndromeAdult Acute Basophilic Leukemia17 more

This phase II trial studies how well eltrombopag olamine works in improving the recovery of platelet counts in older patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) undergoing induction (the first treatment given for a disease) chemotherapy. Platelet counts recover more slowly in older patients, leading to risk of complications and the delay of post-remission therapy. Eltrombopag olamine may cause the body to make platelets after chemotherapy.

Vaccine Therapy in Preventing Cytomegalovirus Infection in Patients With Hematological Malignancies...

Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission125 more

This randomized phase I trial studies the side effects of vaccine therapy in preventing cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in patients with hematological malignancies undergoing donor stem cell transplant. Vaccines made from a tetanus-CMV peptide or antigen may help the body build an effective immune response and prevent or delay the recurrence of CMV infection in patients undergoing donor stem cell transplant for hematological malignancies.

Resiliency in Older Adults Undergoing Bone Marrow Transplant

LeukemiaLymphoma4 more

The objective of this research is to measure certain indicators of resiliency to better understand which participants who are over 60 years old will respond more positively to bone marrow transplant. This research is being done to determine if there are traits that make recipients more likely to bounce back following allogeneic bone marrow transplant (BMT).

CMV-MVA Triplex Vaccination of Stem Cell Donors in Preventing CMV Viremia in Participants With Blood...

Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaBCR-ABL1 Positive14 more

This phase II trial studies how well multi-peptide CMV-modified vaccinia Ankara (CMV-MVA Triplex) vaccination of stem cell donors works in preventing cytomegalovirus (CMV) viremia in participants with blood cancer undergoing donor stem cell transplant. Giving a vaccine to the donors may boost the recipient's immunity to this virus and reduce the chance of CMV disease after transplant.

Psychological Intervention Mobile App for Patients With AML

Acute Myeloid Leukemia

This research study is evaluating the impact of a psychological intervention mobile application (app) on the quality of life, mood, and symptoms of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Triplex Vaccine in Preventing CMV Infection in Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation...

Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaBCR-ABL1 Positive12 more

This phase II trial studies how well Triplex vaccine works in preventing cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in patients undergoing a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. CMV is a virus that may be carried for life and does not cause illness in most healthy individuals. However, in people whose immune systems are lowered (such as those undergoing stem cell transplantation), CMV can reproduce and cause disease and even death. The Triplex vaccine is made up of 3 small pieces of CMV deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) (the chemical form of genes) placed into a weakened virus called modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) that may help produce immunity (the ability to recognize and respond to an infection) and reduce the risk of developing complications related to CMV infection.

RN-Led Palliative and Supportive Care Intervention

Acute Myeloid Leukemia

This single institution feasibility and acceptability study includes patients with acute leukemia which is designed to examine a novel palliative and supportive care intervention (Palliative and supportive Care inTervention; PACT) in which registered nurses (RNs), occupational therapists (OTs), and physical therapists (PTs) address the activity needs of older adults with acute leukemia during their hospital stay.
