Tolerability and Safety of Subcutaneous Administration of Two Doses of AFFITOPE® PD01A in Early...

Parkinson's Disease

This is a phase I study to assess the tolerability and safety of 4 injections of two different doses of AFFITOPE® PD01A formulated with an adjuvant to patients with early Parkinson's disease in male and female patients aged 45 to 65 years (or age between 40 and 45 years if there is no evidence for genetic forms of the disease and the diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinson's disease was confirmed, after approval by Sponsor). One study site in Vienna (Austria) will be involved. Each patient's participation will last 1 year. In addition, up to 8 patients will be offered participation within an untreated control group.

A Long-Term Extension Trial From of SPM 962 in Advanced Parkinson's Disease Patients

Parkinson's Disease

To investigate the safety of once-daily repeated transdermal administration of SPM 962 within a dose range of 4.5 to 36.0 mg/day (54-week treatment period) in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients treated concomitantly with L-dopa in a multi-center, open-label uncontrolled study. To investigate efficacy of SPM 962 in an exploratory manner.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for the Treatment of Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's Disease

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of Boston Scientific's Vercise Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) system in the treatment of patients with with advanced, levodopa-responsive bilateral Parkinson's disease (PD) which is not adequately controlled with medication.

Double-blind Placebo Surgery Trial for Treatment of Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson DiseaseSurgery

A double-blind sham surgery-controlled trial was developed to determine the effectiveness of implantation of human embryonic dopamine neurons into the putamen of patients with advanced Parkinson's disease (PD), with half the patients receiving the implant (n = 20) and half receiving sham surgery (n = 20). The blind was maintained for 12 months before participants were told which surgery they received, at which time those receiving sham surgery could request the implant surgery.

Efficacy and Tolerability of IRL790 in Parkinson's Disease Dyskinesia

Parkinson Disease

Mesdopetam (IRL790) is an experimental small molecule compound with psychomotor stabilizing properties. The primary target is the dopamine D3 receptor, a target implicated in the generation of levodopa-induced dyskinesia, a side-effect frequently occurring with long-term levodopa treatment in patients with Parkinson's disease. In experimental animals mesdopetam potently reduced levodopa-induced involuntary movement without impairing the antiparkinsonian effect of levodopa. The primary purpose of the trial is to investigate whether mesdopetam given as adjunctive treatment can reduce levodopa induced dyskinesia in patients with Parkinson's disease. The trial will also help to establish the most optimal dosing of the compound.

Mild Cognitive Impairment and Endurance Exercise in Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson DiseaseMild Cognitive Impairment

The overall objective of this study is to determine how high intensity endurance exercise affects both cognition and the signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease as well as if certain brain structures and functions also change with this exercise.

Voice Treatment for Parkinson's Disease

Idiopathic Parkinson Disease

This study addresses several issues related to the clinical management of speech and voice disorders associated with Parkinson's disease. Two behavioral treatment programs, Lee Silverman Voice Treatment and SpeechVive, are assessed in their ability to improve communication in persons with Parkinson's disease.

Feasibility and Acceptability of a Physical Activity Behavior Change Intervention for Parkinson's...

Parkinson's Disease

The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility, in regards to acceptability and implementation, of the Pre-Active PD intervention for increased high intensity goal-directed aerobic exercise engagement in people with early-stage Parkinson's disease (Hoehn and Yahr stage I & II). In addition, the study aims to explore the effect estimates of the Pre-Active PD intervention on self-efficacy, motivation, stage of behavior change, and physical activity levels in people with early stage Parkinson's disease.
