Speech, Linguistic and Acoustic Markers in Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson DiseaseCognitive Impairment2 moreThe Investigators aim to identify speech and language markers that provide information on cognitive function and predict cognitive decline in Parkinson's disease. The Investigators will administer speech tasks and cognitive assessments to participants with Parkinson's disease and healthy controls. The Investigators will also explore the associations between genetic factors and speech and cognitive status in Parkinson's disease.
Virtual Reality-based Interactive Treadmill Gait Training System for Parkinson's Disease
Virtual Reality; Rehabilitation; Parkinson's DiseaseVirtual-reality-based interactive treadmill system will be applied to the Parkinsons' disease patients who can walk (Hoehn and Yahr stage 2 to 4). Subjects will be randomly allocated to either VR-based treadmill training group or treadmill training without VR-based interaction. The training will be provided for 3 sessions (30min/session)/week for 4weeks, the total of 12 sessions. The outcomes will be measured at baseline, immediately after the completion of the intervention and 1 month after the intervention.
The Impact of Three Distinct Exercise Types on Fatigue, Anxiety, and Depression in Parkinson's Disease...
Parkinson DiseaseThe purpose of the study is to learn about the impact of exercise on fatigue, anxiety, and depression in Parkinson's disease. It is well established that exercise improves the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease. However, it is not clear which types of exercise are most beneficial for specific non-motor symptoms.
Fecal Microbiota Transplantation As a Potential Treatment for Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson Diseasethis pilot study aims to further explore the potential usage of Fecal microbiota transplantation in treating constipation and possibly also motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients, and to increase understanding of the potential relationship between the identities of intestinal microbial communities and PD.
Evaluation of the Uses of a Digital-assisted Self-rehabilitation Device (TELE-PARK)
Parkinson DiseaseParkinson's SyndromeEvaluate the use by the patient and his family and professional environment of a self-rehabilitation device with follow-up in tele-rehabilitation in people with Parkinson's disease taking into account the different actors within a health area (health professionals and paramedics in structure and in liberal).
Priming Through Timing. Using Opposing Strategies to Enhance Motor Learning for Individuals With...
Parkinson DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to determine how using auditory cues of a metronome at various frequencies impacts the gait mechanics and balance in people with Parkinson's disease when walking over ground and on a treadmill. We will enroll 10 participants with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (Stages 2 or 3). All participants will complete 18 training sessions over 6 weeks and participate in pre- and post-testing of gait and balance.
Continuation Treatment Protocol for Patient Who Participated in the BIA 9-1067-302 Clinical Trial...
Parkinson DiseaseThe purpose of the study is to extend the use of opicapone 25 or 50mg once per day by subjects who participated in the BIA 9-1067-302 clinical trial according form 4a for additional three years.
A Trial of Neurocognitive and Supportive Therapy Interventions for Individuals With Parkinson's...
Parkinson's DiseaseMild Cognitive ImpairmentThis randomized, controlled trial (RCT) evaluates the benefits of memory and problem solving training compared to supportive therapy in individuals with Parkinson's Disease with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and their support persons. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive memory and problem solving training or supportive therapy for 2-months. A 6-month follow up evaluation will establish if benefits remain over time. Impact of these therapies on thinking abilities, physical health, and patient and support person ratings of thinking skills, mood and quality of life will be evaluated. The memory and problem solving training is hypothesized to result in greater improvements and/or stability of function on neuropsychological tests of attention, working memory, learning, and memory skills compared to the supportive therapy condition. Both conditions are hypothesized to result in improved mood and quality of life ratings. Results from this study will determine whether memory and problem solving therapies and supportive therapy are easily used by and beneficial for individuals with Parkinson's Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment. If positive benefit is observed, information from this study will be used to further optimize these therapies for larger trials designed to evaluate the value of the therapies for individuals with Parkinson's Disease and their support persons.
Open Label Treatment With tDCS for Parkinson's and Related Disorders for Improvement of Speech,...
Parkinson's DiseaseThis research will help us to understand whether transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can safely improve recovery of speech and language abilities, gait , and mood in people with Parkinson's disease and related disorders. Some of the disorders that will be studied to understand if tDCS can be useful include Parkinson's Disease, Multi-System Atrophy (MSA) and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
