Sitosterolemia Extension Study (0653-003)(COMPLETED)

Lipid MetabolismInborn Errors1 more

This is an extension study for patients having unusually high absorption of non-cholesterol sterols, resulting in heart-related diseases. This study will evaluate the long term safety and the ability to lower cholesterol levels with an investigational drug.

A Study to Evaluate the Safety and Therapeutic Effects of Transplantation of MNV-BM-BLD in Pediatric...

Mitochondrial DiseasesPearson Syndrome

Mitochondrial diseases are a genetically heterogeneous group of disorders caused by mutations or deletions in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) displaying a wide range of severity and phenotypes. These diseases may be inherited from the mother (mitochondrial inheritance) or non-inherited. The latter are ultra-rare pediatric diseases caused by a mutation or deletion of mtDNA, which develop into a systemic multi organ disease and eventually death. MNV-BM-BLD is a therapeutic process for enrichment of patient's peripheral hematopoietic stem cells with normal and healthy mitochondria derived from donor blood cells. The process, called mitochondria augmentation therapy, aims to reduce the symptoms of mitochondrial diseases.

An Open-label Extension Study to Assess the Long-term Safety and Efficacy of ISIS 301012 (Mipomersen)...

Lipid MetabolismInborn Errors18 more

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of extended dosing with mipomersen (ISIS 301012) in participants with familial hypercholesterolemia or severe hypercholesterolemia on lipid-lowering therapy who had completed either the 301012-CS5 (NCT00607373), 301012-CS7 (NCT00706849), 301012-CS17 (NCT00477594) or MIPO3500108 (NCT00794664) clinical drug trials.

Open Label Extension of ISIS 301012 (Mipomersen) to Treat Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Lipid MetabolismInborn Errors18 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of extended dosing of mipomersen in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia on lipid-lowering therapy who have completed either the 301012-CS8 (NCT00280995) or 301012-CS9 (NCT00281008) clinical drug trials.

Measure Liver Fat Content After ISIS 301012 (Mipomersen) Administration

Lipid MetabolismInborn Errors17 more

This study will assess what, if any, effect that ISIS 301012 (mipomersen) has on liver triglyceride content in multiple groups of subjects with varying degrees of risk for hepatic steatosis. In order to enroll subject groups with varying degrees of risk, the study has included multiple cohorts (Cohorts A-G). Additions and removal of cohorts has been accomplished with protocol amendments.

An Investigational Drug Study to Lower Non-Cholesterol Sterol Levels Associated With Sitosterolemia...

Lipid MetabolismInborn Errors1 more

This is a 6-month study with patients who have the rare disease, sitosterolemia which may result in heart-related diseases. These patients have unusually high absorption of non-cholesterol sterols, resulting in heart-related diseases. This study investigates whether absorption of these non-cholesterols can be reduced in these patients.

Mendelian Reverse Cholesterol Transport Study

CholesterolHDL5 more

The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of radiolabeled particulate cholesterol administered intravenously in association with albumin, as a method to study reverse cholesterol transport (RCT) in people carrying mutations in genes known to affect high density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism by analyzing changes in the tracer activity in total plasma, lipoproteins fractions and feces.

Dietary Cholesterol and Defects in Cholesterol Synthesis in Mevalonate Kinase Deficiency

Mevalonic AciduriaMevalonate Kinase Deficiency5 more

Participants wanted for study of mevalonate kinase deficiency (MKD), mevalonic aciduria, or hyperimmunoglobulinemia with periodic fever syndrome (HIDS). Patients with MKD (mevalonic aciduria or hyperimmunoglobulinemia with periodic fever syndrome (HIDS)) may be eligible for a research study conducted at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon USA. The purpose of the study is to find out more about how these diseases affect body chemistry and health. The researchers also want to find out how cholesterol in the diet affect blood cholesterol and how the body handles cholesterol. This is a short-term and long-term dietary study. The long-term goal of this research is to see if controlling dietary cholesterol can decrease any of the symptoms of the diseases. The study could involve up to 12 one-week admissions to OHSU over the course of 5 years.
