Quality of Life of Patients Over 75 Yars Undergoing Palliative Chemotherapy
Colorectal CancerPancreatic Cancer4 moreThe aim of this research is to evaluate the quality of life of patients over 75 years of age undergoing palliative chemotherapy for digestive cancer. It is a non-interventional study that evaluates the quality of life before and after a cycle of chemotherapy with a composite criterion including: a standardized questionnaire "Cancer specific quality of Life questionnaire" (QLQC30), an assessment of autonomy by "Activity of daily living" questionnaire (ADL), and the number of days of hospitalization.
Paravertebral Block for Percutaneous Radiofrequency Ablation of Liver Lesions
Liver TumorPercutaneous radiofrequency ablation of liver lesions causes patients acute pain during and after the procedure. During the procedure patients need deep sedation and cannot be collaborative. Furthermore post-operative analgesia is necessary. The aim of this study is to evaluate if the ultrasound-guided paravertebral block (TPVB)with a single injection can provide anesthesia and post-operative analgesia in these patients.
Qualitative Research for Stage 4 Liver Cancer Patients and Their Caregivers
Stage 4 Liver CancerThis is opinion based, experiential research and is NOT a drug trial.
Diagnosis of Hepatic Tumors in Cirrhosis: Prospective Validation of the Noninvasive Diagnostic Criteria...
Hepatocellular CarcinomaThis study prospectively evaluates the accuracy of the noninvasive diagnostic criteria for hepatocellular carcinoma.
The Development of Diagnostic Biomarker Panels for Hepatitis and Liver Cancer
Hepatitis B,ChronicCarcinoma,HepatocellularMore recent studies have shown that the HBV-infected population has a greater risk of development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Nevertheless, there are still a significant number of people chronically infected by HBV who do not develop the complication. Hence, there exist biological markers that could be indicator for the disease-inducing and carcinogenic potential of the virus.
Impact of a Training in Therapeutic Education on the Relation Between Care Givers and Their Patients...
Cancer of LiverDiabetesThis study aims to describe the impact of a training in therapeutic education on the relation between a caregiver and his/her patients. Subjects are recruited among health professionals attending a training in therapeutic education. Then they are asked to identify up to 5 of their patients to be contacted by the researcher for an interview. Individual semi-structured interviews are conducted with 20 duo "caregivers / patients" before the training, 1 month and 6 months after the training.

External Validation of the Apfel Risk Score and Koivuranta Score to Predict Postoperative Nausea...
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingHepatobiliary Surgery1 morePostoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common complication among surgical patients. The incidence ranging from 20% to 50% depends on different population studied. Clinical practice guidelines recommend routine PONV screening before surgery using the Apfel simplified risk score OR Koivuranta score. However, these two scores haven't been translated into Chinese version and tested for psychometric qualities. Therefore, this study aim to externally validate two PONV prediction models in the Chinese hospital setting for PONV assessment.
Platform for Medical Information Extraction From Incomplete Data
Liver CancerIn order to perform research smoothly, the process of information extraction is required for translating data in clinical text into available format for analysis and statistic. In medical research, the problem of missing data occurs frequently. It is important to develop the method with better imputation performance in the stability and accuracy. The purposes of this project are to provide the data integration and extraction methods for handling the structured and unstructured data sources in more efficient ways, to provide the validation scheme for facilitating the data reviewing of extracted results produced by information extraction modules, to increase the quality of clinical data by comparing the data from different data sources and correcting data errors and inconsistent, to handle the clinical data with the properties of time series and incompleteness, to increase accuracy of data analysis and increase quality of health care by improving the completeness and correctness of clinical data, to provide flexibility of methods in the platform. In the project, the disease topic is focused on the liver cancer patients' clinical data and we hope the methods in the projects can be extended to handle other diseases by replacing these knowledge models in the future.
Prediction of Incidence of Liver Cancer by Use of Real-time Tissue Elastography
Chronic Hepatitis BChronic Hepatitis CThis is a multi-center cohort study in which the Real-time Tissue Elastography® measurements will predict prospectively the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma, the incidence and severity of gastroesophageal varices ascites and decompensated cirrhosis in hepatitis B or C patients.
