A small piece of tissue called a biopsy, of your liver nay be obtained by this method. the tissue (biopsy) would be obtained by inserting a small needle through the lining of the stomach into the liver. Consideration for this biopsy is because there may be extra fat stored within the liver. In some people who drink too much alcohol, extra fat may be stored in the liver, however, in some people who don't drink too much alcohol, this may also occur and is called :non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or NAFLD. Over time, this extra fat may lead to liver irritation and scar tissue called cirrhosis. If NAFLD is detected early enough, then treatment with medications, losing weight, or dietary changes may help avoid cirrhosis. the purpose of this study is to learn about whether doctors can obtain the biopsy from the liver by a new method. The biopsy of the liver allows the doctors to look for any signs of scar tissue or inflammation from any cause.

Liver DysfunctionRejection3 moreThis study involves the use of a drug called Thymoglobulin, which is approved in the US to treat kidney transplant rejection and in Canada to treat and prevent kidney transplant rejection. This study will evaluate the effect of Thymoglobulin induction therapy and reduced doses of calcineurin inhibitors on the incidence of liver rejection and will provide a basis for future evaluations of Thymoglobulin as an immunosuppressive agent to help decrease the incidence of liver transplant rejection. Subjects meeting all inclusion and exclusion criteria are eligible to participate in this study. Approximately 75 study subjects from up to 18 transplant centers in the United States and Canada will be enrolled in this 12-month study.

In these surgeries, the liver masses are also found to be significantly larger due to the high Body Mass Index scores. It is known that the application of a diet called liver shrinkage protein diet which is applied preoperatively is a method that contributes to the comfort of the surgeon during surgery by reducing the size of the liver. The large size of the liver narrows the field of view of the surgeon in operation and decreases the comfort of surgery. One of the most important points that the surgeon must solve during surgery is the exclusion of the left lobe of the liver. The most commonly used types of liver retractors today; Nathanson retractor, Snowden-Window retractor, Snake retractor, Fan retractor, LIvac retractor and many other retractors. Some of these retractors require an additional incision under xiphoid, which may lead to an injury risk. The installation of these retractors also increases the operation time and requires additional time. Numerous studies have shown that retractors, which are used to rule out liver left lobe during surgery, cause liver damage. However, in order to reveal His angle in the esophageal-gastric composition, hepatic left lobe exclusion is mandatory. Therefore, it is necessary to determine and use the retractor type which causes the least damage between the liver retractors. In our study, it was aimed to reveal three types of liver retractors in our hospital in different cases and to reveal the type of trocar that causes the least amount of liver damage.

Avatrombopag for Thrombocytopenia in People With Cancer
ThrombocytopeniaCancer1 moreThis study will test whether avatrombopag is an effective treatment for thrombocytopenia in people who have both cancer and a liver disease (such as cirrhosis, cholangitis, or hepatitis). Researchers will look at whether giving participants avatrombopag for 3 weeks can raise their platelet levels enough for them to begin chemotherapy. The study will also test whether avatrombopag can continue to be effective against thrombocytopenia while participants are on chemotherapy for 12 weeks or longer. In addition, researchers will determine how safe the study drug is in participants.

Though serologic analysis will often lead to a conclusive diagnosis, liver biopsy remains an important method for helping to determine the etiology and stage of LD. Percutaneous liver biopsy (PLB), transjugular liver biopsy (TLB) and surgical liver biopsy (SLB) are alternative methods for obtaining hepatic tissue. In recent years endoscopic ultrasound guided-liver biopsy (EUS-LB) has come to the forefront as a safe and effective method for obtaining tissue in CLD. There are several studies of the safety of EUS-LB as well as the adequacy of specimens obtained in this fashion. Most studies involve a 19-gauge needle, therefore in this study the investigators hope to compare the tissue yields of a 22-gauge fine needle biopsy (FNB) needle, in comparison to conventional 19-gauge. The investigators predict that 19 and 22 gauge FNB needle will demonstrate similar diagnostic accuracy, with less visible blood artifact. Similarly the investigators predict the safety to be equal.
