Ineffective hemostasis or a paradoxical prothrombotic state of Acute-on-chronic liver disease (ACLF) has been well established. However, the minor and major bleeding events has not been described yet. We observe the patients' major and minor bleeding events and use 4 criteria, which include BARC, ISTH, TIMI, Gusto ,to evaluate the incident rate of bleeding events in ACLF patients and pre-ACLF patients.

Patients with acute on chronic liver failure have a risk of developing multiorgan failure and a high mortality. The current scoring systems defining the outcome of patients with acute decompensation of cirrhosis fail to identify patients that progress to Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). The aim of the study is to evaluate if one can identify these patients early on with the proposed biomarkers: dimethylarginines and ischemia modified albumin.

The AARC China Study is to establish a widely recognized and harmonized standard of patients with HBV-ACLF in the Asia Pacific region.

This is prospective cohort study of patients classified by the premedication history of beta-blocker. The investigators aim to evaluate the hemodynamic effect of beta blocker through Swan-Ganz catheter monitoring and arterial pressure waveform analysis during surgery. The investigators also plan to observe the long-term effects of beta blocker on acute renal failure, allograft failure and mortality.

Patients with Acute on Chronic Liver Failure (ACLF) have high short-term mortality. The use of a severity score could define the patient's prognosis and would help determine in whom the treatment is effective or futile.

The term of End Stage of Liver Disease (ESLD) was raised in 80's of 20 Century, but without a restrict definition. Infections are the cause and effect in occurrence and development of ESLD, which not only induce or exacerbate ESLD, but also are the most combined complication. Multi-resistant bacteria, multi-organ injury, selection of anti-microbes, supporting treatment, disorder of intestine microbiota, et al are dilemma in clinical practice. Appropriate and formal diagnosis and treatment of ESLD combined infection are imperious nowadays.

The present study will develop a method to assess ammonia metabolism by ammonia infusion and investigate ammonia production and clearance in healthy individuals and in patients with liver cirrhosis.

The study will be conducted on patients admitted to Department of Hepatology from MARCH 2015 to DECEMBER 2016 at ILBS, New Delhi.All patients presenting to ILBS fulfilling the inclusion criteria will be included in the study and will be categorized and evaluated. The patient will followed over a period of 3 months.

In this project proposal, the investigators will investigate the genetic alterations of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) strains circulating in Belgian patients who developed end stage liver disease. Additionally, the investigators will compare and link these data sets with three genetic factors involved in immune system response.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether hepatic encephalopathy, measured through magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalogram and neuropsychological evaluation adds prognostic information to patients who are waiting for liver transplantation. If this model improves mortality prediction this might be used in the future for organ allocation.
