A Self Selected Population Study of Undiagnosed NAFLD and NASH, Using an Echosens FibroScan, in...

NAFLDNASH - Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis3 more

Liver disease (NAFLD) and (NASH) are a rapidly increasing population health threat driven primarily by diet and lifestyle. Fibrotic liver disease, culminating in cirrhosis, is frequently asymptomatic so it is common for a patient to first learn of what is a life threatening condition by being told that they have cirrhosis. Management and treatment of cirrhosis is complex and very costly with the only current cure being a very expensive transplant for end stage liver disease. The SUNN study seeks to perform Fibroscan wellness testing on at risk but asymptomatic self selected patients in the general population to identify disease early and to triage patients toward care or educational tools based upon test results. No personally identifiable information will be collected but demographic and test results will be imported into a registry for data analysis. Results of the study will guide development of screening protocols to identify early stage disease in a wellness screening model.

Observational Cohort of Pancreatic Echo-endoscopy

Metabolic SyndromeObesity1 more

Metabolic syndrome is defined by the presence of at least two of the following five criteria: abdominal perimeter> 94 cm in men, 80 cm in women, high triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, HTA and hyperglycemia. The metabolic syndrome can lead to ultrasound hepatic steatosis in 20 to 40% of cases depending on the population studied (overweight vs obesity). What is the impact of this syndrome on pancreatic echogenicity?

COVID-19 and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Covid19NAFLD

COVID-19 is currently the leading public health problem, associated with a high risk of complications and death in risk groups of patients. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease with a prevalence of 30% in the Western population and is also recognized as an independent risk factor for the development of severe COVID-19. In the pathogenesis of COVID-19, the key role is played by the hyperreactivity of the immune response, the so-called cytokine storm leading to the development of severe forms of pneumonia, acute respiratory and multiorgan failure. The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical course, outcomes, and profile of inflammatory response in patients with COVID-19 and NAFLD.

Screening for Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD) at Al-Rajhy Hospital...

SteatohepatitisNonalcoholic

Primary outcome Screen for MAFLD among patients attending to the Nutrition clinic in Al Rajhi hospital. Secondary outcome Determining the degrees of fibrosis and steatosis in patients with MAFLD Determining the rate of obesity, diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN), hyperlipidemia in patients with MAFLD. Determining the rate of patients with other associated chronic liver disease (CLD).

MAFLD-simplified Definition as an Optimized Risk Stratification Tool for Predicting Metabolic Outcomes...

Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease

Recently, a consensus was proposed by an international expert panel for the terminology changed from NAFLD to Metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). The comprehensive criteria shift to a "positive" diagnosis. It helps to increase patient awareness and understanding of fatty liver (FL), for who has high-risk metabolic dysfunction. However, a more simplified and easily applicable definition is needed. It will have an impact on clinical practice, especially in developing countries.

Prognostic Indicators as Provided by the EPIC ClearView

Coronary Artery DiseaseCongestive Heart Failure26 more

The objective of this study is to determine whether the finger tip images captured by the EPIC ClearView device, when analyzed via the ClearView software, produce a Response Scale that characterizes trends consistent with known diagnoses identified by medical doctors. Specifically, the investigators hypothesize that the organ system involving any of a series of known active diagnoses will be identified in the EPIC ClearView Response Scale report with the intention of providing potential triage capabilities.

Identification of Protective and Worsening Steatohepatitis (NASH) Factors

Morbid ObesitySteatohepatitis1 more

The main aim of this work will be to identify a profile of gene expression by microarray in the liver which might allow to differentiate obese subjects having a normal liver from those with steatohepatitis or steatosis.

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Anthropometric Measurements

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

The aim of this study; Which anthropometric measurement and ratio (BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, neck circumference, waist-height ratio, body shape index, body roundness index, visceral adiposity index) is a better indicator in healthy individuals with NAFLD and their biochemical parameters is to evaluate.

Combination Diagnostic Strategies in NAFLD

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver DiseaseChronic Liver Disease

Serial combination of biological and elastography tests is accurate to diagnosing advanced fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. In this study, the investigators compared the diagnostic performances of a 2-step strategy using either vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) or bidimensional shear wave elastography with Supersonic imagine (2D-SWE-SSI), and analysed the added-value of a 3-step strategy.

PET-MR Study of Fatty Liver

Steatohepatitis

This is a pilot, translational study designed to explore the feasibility of molecular imaging with FBA-A20FMDV2, radiolabelled with fluorine-18 ([18F]-FBA-A20FMDV2), in patients with SH and CASH in hepatic metastatic disease. FBA-A20FMDV2, a synthetic peptide derived from the foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV), has been shown pre-clinically to specifically bind to the epithelial specific integrin αvβ6 which is known to be overexpressed in tumours. In this study, we aim to evaluate the uptake of [18F]-FBA-A20FMDV2 ([18F]-IMAFIB) in patients with SH and CASH in CRC hepatic metastatic disease using PET. Up to ten subjects will undergo [18F]-FBA-A20FMDV-PET scanning. An adaptive study design will enable us to determine the optimal imaging protocol for future studies.
