Spinal Manipulative Therapy for Low Back Pain
Low Back PainContext: Acute low back pain (LBP) is a common reason for consultations in primary care. Reducing the pain in the first hours and days and restoring the functional capacity of the lumbar spine may result in a decrease in medical costs and earlier return to work. Objective: To determine the impact of spinal manipulation on pain and analgesic use in acute low back pain.
The Safety and Efficacy of the Buprenorphine Transdermal Delivery System in Subjects With Chronic...
Back PainThe objective of this study is to demonstrate the effectiveness and tolerability of the buprenorphine transdermal system (5, 10, and 20 mg) in comparison to placebo transdermal system and immediate release oxycodone/acetaminophen in subjects with chronic low back pain inadequately treated with non-opioid analgesics. The double-blind treatment intervention duration is 60 days.

Chronic Low Back PainThe objective of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of the buprenorphine transdermal system (5, 10, and 20 mg) in comparison to placebo transdermal system and hydrocodone/acetaminophen in subjects with chronic back pain. The double-blind treatment intervention duration is 56 days during which time supplemental analgesic medication (ibuprofen) will be provided to all subjects in addition to study drug.

Effectiveness of Caudal Epidural Injections in Treatment of Chronic Low Back and Lower Extremity...
Low Back PainTo demonstrate clinically significant improvements or lack thereof in the caudal epidural patients with our without steroids. To evaluate differences in outcomes in patients receiving steroids compared to those patients randomized to the local anesthetic group who did not receive steroids. To assess improvements among patients and compare steroid groups with each other and local anesthetic group. To evaluate and compare the adverse event profile in all patients
The McKenzie Method Versus Manipulation for Patients With Chronic Low Back Pain
Low Back PainIntroduction: The McKenzie method as well as spinal manipulation is commonly used for the treatment of low back pain throughout the western world. Recently, the need for studies testing the effect of treatment strategies to specific diagnostic subgroups of patients has been emphasized. The present study aims to compare the effectiveness of the McKenzie method and chiropractic manipulation, information, and advice for patients with clinical signs of persistent symptoms originating from a diskus in the low back. Methods: After clinical screening 350 patients with or without leg pain who presented with centralization of symptoms or signs of disc herniation were randomized to the McKenzie group or the manipulation group. The outcome measures, Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire, 11 point numerical pain scale, 6 point global perceived change scale, and quality of life (Short Form-36) were assessed at baseline, at end of treatment, and at 2 and 12 months follow-up.
