Prediction of Outcome of Interventional Pain Management

Low Back PainNeck Pain1 more

Interventional pain management for back and neck pain is widely used, but the indications and relative merits of these techniques rest subject to discussion. This study aims to identify prognostic criteria for patients who might specifically benefit from interventional pain management. Specifically, the nociceptive reflex threshold will be investigated, which is a measure of central sensibilisation and thus a potentially important prognostic factor.

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation for Chronic Low Back Pain

Chronic Low Back Pain

The goal of this study is to investigate the role of central neural pathways in mediating chronic pain. The aim of the study is to test the effect of stimulating brain regions that are part of a network underlying central pain processing using a non-invasive brain stimulation technique, transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS). Prior studies have used tDCS to target both sensory related cortical areas and those important for higher-order representations of pain. This study will target brain regions important for the behavioral response to the chronic sensation of pain. The hypothesis is that stimulation of these brain regions can modulate not only the affective component of pain, but ultimately also improve functioning and quality of life. This hypothesis will be tested by treating study participants eighteen and older with chronic low back pain (CLBP) of greater than six months using tDCS. To be part of this study, participants must meet all the inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Effect of Lumbar Stabilization Exercises and Circular Dances in Chronic Non Specific Low Back Pain...

Low Back Pain

Supervised exercises are the first line therapy for patients with chronic low back pain. The lumbar segmental stabilization (LSE) is a specific training for the muscles of the lumbar spine, which aims to improve neuromuscular control, strength and endurance of the muscles that promotes stability to the spine. The circular dance (CD) belongs to the group of complementary and integrative practices entered in Public Health Care in Brazil, and has been used to improve several aspects related to physical and mental states such as flexibility, posture, strength and muscular endurance, awareness or scheme body, pain control and strains. There are few studies evaluating the circular dance effect on back pain. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of lumbar stabilization exercises and circular dance for improvement in non specific low back pain in middle-aged women.

Immediate Effect of Hamstring Stretching in Patients With Chronic Low Back Pain

Chronic Low-back Pain

Thigh muscles flexibility deficits contribute to handicap in chronic low back pain patients. The study aims to evaluate the immediate effect of thigh muscles stretching in patients with chronic low back pain. The investigation team suppose that flexibility improvement could be detected by instrumented clinical measurements and such difference could be related to psycho-social factors evaluated by questionnaires.

Pilot Study on Digitally Supported Home Exercises for the Management of Unspecific Low Back Pain....

Low Back Pain

The overall purpose of the study is to investigate effect of Digitally Supported Home Exercises (DSHE) in different groups for which digitally supported interventions could be beneficial. Balance is altered in individuals with low back pain and requires intervention Thus, the investigators will focus on the effect of DSHE to improve postural balance.
