Effectiveness of Theramine on Chronic Back Pain

Low Back Pain

This research protocol will compare Theramine to a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in the treatment of chronic back pain. The study will examine the efficacy and tolerability of Theramine alone in patients with chronic back pain in comparison to the NSAID, Naproxen, and the co-administration of Naproxen with Theramine.

The Mechanisms of Manual Therapy in the Treatment of Low Back Pain

Low Back Pain

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a novel placebo for comparison to spinal manipulation is believable and creates similar expectation for treatment effectiveness as the studied spinal manipulation technique. Additionally, we wish to compare outcomes related to low back pain, function, and pain sensitivity between people receiving the placebo, spinal manipulation, and no therapy.

Neural Dynamics Technique for the Treatment of Chronic Radicular Low Back Pain

Low Back PainSciatica

Low back pain ( LBP) is a significant health problem which affects about 70%-80% of the population during the course of their life . The majority of LBP is resolved within 3 months; however, up to 40% of LBP becomes chronic. One subgroup of chronic LBP is patients with sciatica. Sciatica is characterized by radiating pain to the buttock and lower limb, with or without low back pain. It has been shown in the upper limb that by positioning the contra-lateral arm in tension the investigators actually reduce tension in the ipsilateral arm. Patients, who present with symptoms like sciatica, can benefit from this maneuver (neural dynamics techniques) that reduces tension through the contra-lateral leg. Working Hypothesis: Compared with a placebo maneuver of the upper limb, the neural dynamics techniques will result in better rehabilitation of individuals with radicular LBP.

Dare to Move: Treatment of Movement Phobia in Patient With Low Back Pain

Low Back Pain

Unspecific low back pain (LBP) is a major world wide health problem. The purpose of this study is to improve the care of LBP. Our hypothesis is that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with physical intervention during group sessions focusing on fear and avoidance behaviour will be more effective than physical therapy alone. The study has two arms. Both will receive education related to LBP and appropriate advice regarding how to react and behave towards their LBP. The main focus in the intervention group will be: Identifying their fear of movements and perform the frightened movements during the group sessions. Reassuring that gradually normalizing daily activities will not be harmful but rather reduce their pain.

Efficacy Safety of a Combination Thiocolchicoside+Ketoprofen Compared to Thiocolchicoside Twice...

Low Back Pain

Primary Objective : To demonstrate the superiority of the oral fixed - combination of a muscle relaxant, thiocolchicoside (TCC) to a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, ketoprofen, over oral TCC, on average pain within the last 24 hours in adults suffering from acute non specific low back pain with an episode of recent onset Secondary Objective : To compare the safety of the oral combination to that of oral TCC alone

Low Back Pain

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety of the Biostat Disc Augmentation System for the treatment of chronic low-back (lumbar) pain due to symptomatic internal disc disruptions (IDD) and to obtain preliminary efficacy information.

Effect of Spinal Manipulation on Sensorimotor Functions in Back Pain Patients

Low Back Pain

The long-term goal for this study is to understand the physiological mechanisms of various forms of spinal manipulation in order to refine and improve this therapy for appropriately selected patients. The objective of this study is to assess the effects of high-velocity low-amplitude spinal manipulation and low-velocity variable amplitude spinal manipulation on three types of sensorimotor abilities in patients with low back pain.
