The Prevention of Lower Urinary Symptoms (PLUS) Research Consortium is working to optimize prevention of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in women and adolescent females across their life spans. The ability to measure bladder health and key risk and protective factors is crucial to the PLUS mission. To describe and measure the spectrum of bladder health in diverse populations, researchers need a valid and reliable instrument. To date, the Consortium's work on design of a bladder health instrument has been a culmination of expert opinion, information from focus groups, and incorporation of previously validated items and language where appropriate, along with cognitive interviews of participants from the general public. The next step in the consortium's work is to prospectively collect data to test and validate bladder health instrument (BHI) items for inclusion in a final bladder health scale (BHS) that can assess the full range of bladder health of women. This will be through a combination of general population recruitment for completing mailed surveys, clinical population recruitment for completing surveys and an in-person evaluation, and postpartum women.

This study aimed to examine trunk and lower extremity biomechanics among children with lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD). It was targeted to pioneer including biomechanical changes into treatment if detected in the trunk and lower extremities of children. Voluntary participants meeting inclusion criteria were divided into two groups: the LUTD group (n=43) and the healthy group (n=43). No treatment was applied to participants and the same evaluation methods were used in both groups. Trunk muscle strength, muscle endurance, posture, flexibility, and pelvic floor muscle activity of participants was evaluated with stabilizer pressurized biofeedback unit, sit-ups and modified push-ups test; trunk flexors endurance test and Modified Biering Sorensen Test; Posture Screen Mobile And Foot Posture Index; sit-reach-test and Beighton Score; and NeuroTrac-Myoplus4Pro, respectively. In addition, the quality of life of participants was evaluated with Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL).

This is a prevalence study evaluating lower urinary tract, prolapse, bowel, and sexual symptoms in women with a colorectal disorder who are planning to undergo surgery. The purpose of this study is to identify the number of women who complain of lower urinary tract and bowel problems, including frequency, urgency, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, pain with intercourse, and other sexual problems prior to undergoing surgical management for a colorectal disorder.

The purpose of this study is to advance our understanding of people who experience urinary and bladder problems. We are interested in learning about people's experiences with urinary symptoms and how these symptoms will be managed. We want to understand the important differences among people and what factors affect urinary and bladder problems. After all of the information is collected, we will have a better understanding of how to improve the care and treatment for people who have urinary and bladder problems.

The PriMUS Study aims to develop a clinical decision support tool to help GPs more accurately diagnose and manage LUTS in men. The study will recruit 880 men across three research hubs in Bristol, Newcastle and Wales. Men will all receive a series of simple index tests in primary care (following NICE Clinical Guidelines) and a urodynamics reference test. The study will then compare which combination of the simple index tests give the best prediction of the urodynamics result, which can then be incorporated into the clinical decision support tool.
