Patient Satisfaction of Virtual vs In-Person Workup and Treatment of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms....

Urologic Diseases

This study is being done to compare usefulness of data collected in uroflowmetry, a test that measures the amount of urine released from the body, at home versus in the doctor's office. Additionally, investigators are assessing patient satisfaction when completing a virtual visit for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), related to prostatic enlargement, compared to an in person visit. The three devices being investigated have not been used in the home setting to make urinary measurements as is typically done in clinic. The goal is to test the effectiveness and accuracy of these devices compared to our standard clinical practices and demonstrate their ability to provide useful information in the home setting.

The Impact of Chatbot-aid on Promoting Self-management of Men's Health in the Post COVID-19 Era...

Benign Prostate EnlargementLower Urinary Tract Symptoms1 more

The AI chatbot as an artificial intelligence technology provides disease information and health care through digital assistance. However, the effectiveness of chatbot in promoting men's health in the field of urology needs further research to evaluate its actual results. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of AI chatbot-aid intervention on enhancing self-management, and decision self-efficacy among men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to an enlarged prostate, and with or without erectile dysfunction (ED) in the post COVID-19 era.

Comparison of a Paper and Automated Bladder Diary in Pediatric Patients

Lower Urinary Tract SymptomsVoiding Disorders2 more

The purpose of this study is to compare an automated bladder diary (autoBD) to a paper bladder diary (pBD) on their level of agreement, patient compliance and satisfaction. It is a mixed methods, randomized 2x2 crossover trial. Pediatric patients (6 to 12 years) presenting to the clinic and identified as requiring a bladder diary will be recruited. Participants will be randomized either to group 1, where they complete the paper bladder diary (pBD) and then the automated bladder diary (autoBD), or to group 2, where they complete the autoBD and then the pBD. Both diaries are kept for at least 2 consecutive days with a wash-out period of 2 to 6 days between the two diaries. Mean differences and the level of agreement between the pBD and autoBD will be analysed using Bland Altman plots for key diary parameters. After completion of each diary format, participants will complete a short online survey regarding compliance, satisfaction and their preference, if any. Finally, a selection of participants and their parents will be invited for an open-ended interview. The participating healthcare professionals will be asked to score each pBD and autoBD on patient compliance when processing the diary. Furthermore, surveys and open-ended interviews will be conducted to assess their overall satisfaction of each diary type and their preference, if any.

Efficacy of Tadalafil (5mg) For Treatment of Early Storage Symptoms and Erectile Dysfunction After...

Erectile DysfunctionLower Urinary Tract Symptoms

From previous studies, the investigators found that sexual outcomes after prostate surgery may show insignificant improvement, remain unchanged or deteriorate in non-negligible number of patients especially those with high preoperative IIEF scores. Deterioration of erectile function could be attributed to persistence of storage symptoms specially nocturia. Several pathophysiologic mechanisms, described before, are involved in pathogenesis of LUTS and ED and one can imagine that after relief of obstruction, the erectile function should improve, however lack of improvement or even deterioration suggests that damage associated with these mechanisms is irreversible and patients may require some sort of penile rehabilitation after surgery. The investigators hypothesized that Tadalafil may enhance relief of storage symptoms and enhance recovery of erectile function after surgery for BPH. With this assumption, a RCT was designed to examine the utility and efficacy of Tadalafil, once daily dose, to relieve persistent/ de novo storage symptoms and early erectile function deterioration after endoscopic prostate surgery.

Effects of Conservative Management on Relieving Storage Urinary Symptoms and Poor Sleep in Women...

Conservative ManagementDiabetes Mellitus5 more

Women with type 2 diabetes (n=150) experiencing ≥1 storage lower urinary tract symptoms and poor sleep health will be recruited from the outpatient departments or wards/units of the selected hospitals/clinics. Our study aims to examine the effects of conservative management incorporating urologic health promotion and sleep health promotion on relieving storage lower urinary tract symptoms and poor sleep, and on improving urologic health self-management behaviors and health-related quality of life. Women who agree to participate will be randomly assigned into the intervention group A, intervention group B, or comparison group. The intervention group A receives a 4-month conservative management with sleep hygiene related adjustments, pelvic floor muscle training, and urologic health promotion. The intervention group B receives a 4-month conservative management with brief behavioral treatment for insomnia (BBTI), pelvic floor muscle training, and urologic health promotion. The comparison group receives information related to pelvic floor muscle training and urologic health promotion, and receives a brief conservative management related to sleep hygiene adjustments after the completion of data collection. Information related to intervention effects is obtained by a questionnaire, a wristwatch-like actigraphy, and physical activity/diet/voiding/sleep logs from all participants at 4 data collection points: baseline, and 2-, 4-, 6-month follow-ups. Our study hypothesis is that the intervention effects on relieving storage lower urinary tract symptoms and poor sleep, and on improving urologic health self-management behaviors and health-related quality of life in the intervention group A or B are superior to the changes revealed in the comparison group.

To Evaluate LUTS and Complications Between Indwelling Catheter and Temporary Prostatic Stent in...

Lower Urinary Tract SymptomsProstatic Hyperplasia2 more

The goal of this single-centre prospective randomized clinical trial is to compare the post-operative use of temporary prostatic stent (Group 1) vs indwelling catheter (Group 2) in patients undergoing cryotherapy for targeted therapy of localized prostate cancer, transurethral water vapor energy ablation (REZUM) or transperineal laser ablation of the prostate with EchoLaser™ system for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) The main questions are: Difference in quality of life, Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (scored with IPSS, International Prostate Symptom Score), urinary continence symptoms (scored with International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form, ICIQ-UI-SF) and patient satisfaction between indwelling catheter and temporary prostatic stent (Exime®) score with a non-validated questionnaire (Stent/catheter-related urinary symptoms questionnaire) Difference in side effects and complications between indwelling catheter and temporary prostatic stent (Exime®) A total 120 of patients will be enrolled (Group 1: 60; Group 2: 60) with a 1:1 randomization ratio. The follow-up duration will be 6 months.
