Lymphedema Treatment Registry
Breast Cancer LymphedemaPatients with breast cancer related lymphedema (clinical stage 0-2) will include in this study. Patients will take their demographic and clinical history and will evaluate with measurements of extremity volumes, body mass index, quality of life status and image studies (lymphoscintigraphy, Ultrasonography (USG), Indocyanine Green (ICG) Lymphograph or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) before and after the complete decongestive therapy. Outcome measurements such as limb volume, quality of life questionnaire and USG will repeat every 6,12,18, 24 months.
Lymphedema Treatment in Head and Neck Cancer Patients
Head and Neck CancerThe purpose of this research is to evaluate the result of treatment for neck lymphedema on throat pressure in patients who have received radiation therapy for head and neck cancer.
Pneumatic Compression Treatment For Upper Extremity Acquired Lymphedema
LymphedemaThe purpose of this study is to determine how well different treatments for acquired lymphedema work. The study will compare 5 different non-invasive treatments for acquired lymphedema of the arm to see which treats lymphedema best.
Arm Circumference Measurement With or Without Bioimpedance Spectroscopy in Finding Lymphedema Early...
LymphedemaBreast CancerThis randomized pilot clinical trial studies arm circumference measurement with or without bioimpedance spectroscopy in finding extra lymph node fluid build up in the arm (lymphedema) early in patients with stage I-III breast cancer undergoing lymph node dissection or sentinel node biopsy. Diagnostic procedures, such as bioimpedance spectroscopy, may allow doctors to find and diagnose lymphedema earlier than arm circumference measurement alone.
.Exercise and Follow-up After a Mastectomy
Mastectomy; LymphedemaA Randomized Control Trial (RCT) on the effect of education and Exercise on women after a mastectomy found positive results in range of motion of the affected shoulder and quality of life in the intervention group.
Remotivation Process for Improving Adherence to Lymphedema Treatment Programs in Patients With Breast...
Breast CarcinomaLymphedemaThis trial studies how well the Remotivation Process in an occupational therapy program works in improving adherence to lymphedema treatment programs in patients with breast cancer-related lymphedema. Lymphedema treatment programs are well developed and effective, but adherence to these programs are an issue. The Remotivation Process is a series of techniques that helps guide discussions between occupational therapists and their patients based on their level of motivation. This study uses the Remotivation Process by gathering patients' thoughts about their experience with lymphedema and occupational therapy services to determine their motivation and learn about the barriers they face in order to improve adherence to these programs.
Inertial Rehabilitation in Women After Mastectomy
Breast CancerMastectomy; LymphedemaThe aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of inertial rehabilitation on: shoulder flexors, extensors and shoulder abductors and adductors strength, breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) and quality of life in women after mastectomy. Twenty-four women after mastectomy were randomized to a training (T; n = 12) or control group (C; n = 12). The T group performed inertial training twice a week for 6 weeks using a Cyklotren inertial device. Each training session included warm-up and 4 sets of shoulder flexors, extensors, abductors, and adductors, with the right and left arms worked. The training loads for all exercises was equal 5 kg. Before and after training the maximum force of trained muscles was tested under training conditions. Body composition, BCRL, disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand (DASH) were also evaluated. Inertial rehabilitation caused significant improvement in strength in all tested muscles in T whereas changes in C were insignificant. Quality of life evaluated by DASH score decreased significantly in T and and did not change in C. Moreover, BCRL and body composition did not change significantly following intervention in both groups. Inertial exercises can be useful rehabilitation method in women treated for breast cancer.
A Study of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) Inhibition in Patients With Unilateral Upper...
LymphedemaThe major purpose of this study is to determine if a new drug called pazopanib decreases lymphedema in subjects previously treated for cancer. Lymphedema, or swelling of the arm, is a result of damage to the lymphatic vessels in the arm during surgery and/or radiation. The damaged vessels can not adequately drain fluid from the arm, resulting in increased pressure and swelling. Pazopanib has not previously been studied as a treatment for lymphedema.
Using Traditional Acupuncture in the Management of Cancer Treatment Related Lymphoedema
Breast CancerHead and Neck Cancer1 moreRATIONALE: Acupuncture and moxibustion may improve well-being and quality of life in patients with lymphedema caused by breast cancer or head, neck, and throat cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well acupuncture given together with moxibustion works in improving well-being and quality of life in patients with breast cancer or head, neck, and throat cancer who are undergoing standard treatment for lymphedema.
Strength Training Intervention for Breast Cancer Survivors and the Effects on Lymphedema Status...
LymphedemaThe purpose of the PAL trial is to increase the understanding of the experiences of long-term breast cancer survivors. Study hypothesis: Strength training will not increase the rate of lymphedema or worsen lymphedema as compared to the non-exercising control participants.
