The Role of Cyclosporine in Blood Cell Transplants With T-Cell Add-Back for Blood Cancers

Cancers of the blood, sometimes referred to as hematologic malignancies, are disorders of bone marrow cells that lead to the failure of the normal function of bone marrow and the uncontrolled growth of cancerous cells in the bone marrow. These cancerous cells can spill over into the bloodstream and affect other organs causing widespread symptoms. The disease is life threatening because it blocks the normal function of the marrow, which is to produce red cells (preventing anemia), white cells (preventing infection), and platelets (preventing progression). Bone marrow transplants are a potential form of therapy for patients with hematologic malignancies. However, BMT is a complicated procedure and can be associated with dangerous side effects. In this study researchers are attempting to find ways to reduce the complications of BMT, so that it would be possible to use it more safely and can be offered more patients. In order to do this, researchers are developing new techniques to make BMT safer. It requires making small changes to the standard procedure, which may improve the outcome. The experimental procedures researchers are evaluating are: <TAB>T-cell depleted peripheral blood progenitor cell (PBPC) transplantation <TAB> Cyclosporine given immediately after the transplant <TAB>Add-back of donor lymphocytes Patients undergoing these experimental techniques must be monitored closely to see if any benefit or harmful effects will occur. Information gathered from this study can be used to develop further research studies and potential new therapies for hematologic malignancies.

Sleep is one of the basic and indispensable daily life activities that affect the quality of life and health of individuals and is a concept with physiological, psychological and social dimensions. In the literature, sleep difficulties and problems have begun to be investigated in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and have not been found in national publications. In these children, sleep quality, strengths and disorders and a study evaluating this variation on a scale have not been found. For this reason, our study will be done in order to determine the factors affecting sleep and sleep in children with cancer and to show the effect of exercise on these factors.

This study will explore 2 different doses of inotuzumab ozogamicin including the dose that is approved and a lower dose. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate whether a dose of inotuzumab ozogamicin, lower than the approved dose, could be recommended for adult patient with relapsed or refractory ALL who may be at higher risk for severe liver problems after inotuzumab ozogamicin treatment and stem cell transplant (a potentially curative therapy that can replace cancer cells with healthy cells). Efficacy and safety of the 2 doses will be evaluated.

Ibrutinib Adapted to Response in Patients With CLL

As everyone knows in clinical practice, Ibrutinib dose reduction in patients with CLL with good response does not alter disease-free survival (DFS) or increase the risk of transformation. Supported by the evidence of retrospective studies that have shown parity in DFS and OS between a group with standard treatment and another in which the dose of ibrutinib was reduced and others in which no significant differences were observed in the saturation point of the BTK receptor with good clinical response, even comparing plasma and intracellular pharmacokinetics and BTK occupancy together with the pharmacodynamic response, we propose to carry out a prospective response-adapted study with the aim of potentially reducing the rate of adverse events and improving the cost/benefit ratio of this therapy. Evaluating the efficacy and safety of Ibrutinib dose appropriate to the response in patients diagnosed with CLL.

Purpose: The present research was conducted to study the effect of treadmill training on balance after chemotherapy in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Subjects and Methods: Forty children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia included in the current research ranged of age from 8 to 12 years. The children participated in this study were assigned randomly into two equal number groups (A and B). Group (A) includes 20 children who received balance exercises, while group (B) includes 20 children who received the same balance exercises of group (A) and treadmill training. The treatment program was applied three sessions per week (60 min for every session) for 8 weeks. Balance Master System and Biodex Balance System were used to evaluate balance of all children in the three groups before and after the treatment program.
