Efficiency of Gonadotropin-releasing Hormone (GnRH) Agonist in Preventing Chemotherapy Induced Ovarian...

Fertility PreservationAlkylating Agents1 more

Chemotherapy drugs like alkylating agents are frequently used in various combined regimens to treat neoplastic and benign diseases. These drugs are definitely associated with premature ovarian failure (POF), resulting in an important decrease of the long-term quality of life and an increase of morbidity. A recent study showed that the patients treated by alkylating agents had a 4.52 fold higher risk to lose their ovarian function compared with those who were treated by other agents. The rate of POF after treatment ranged from 40 to 80%, according to the age of the patients and the total doses administered. Young women who experience POF have to face with the prospects of infertility and to consider years of hormonal replacement therapy. The possibility of minimizing gonadal damage by administering of protective therapy during chemotherapy represents an attractive option for these patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the protective effect on the ovarian function of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRha) administered concomitantly to alkylating agents. Preliminary data in the literature on animals (rat and monkeys) are promising. Data in human are, however, highly controversial.

T-Regulatory Cell and CD3 Depleted Double Umbilical Cord Blood Transplantation in Hematologic Malignancies...

Hematologic MalignancyAcute Myeloid Leukemia17 more

This is a unique dose-escalation trial that will titrate doses of umbilical cord blood (UCB) Treg and CD3+ Teff cells with the goal of infusing as many CD3+ Teff cells as possible without conferring grade II-IV acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). In this study, the investigators propose to add UCB Treg and UCB CD3+ Teff cells to the two TCD UCB donor units with the goal of transplanting as many CD3+ Teff cells as possible without reintroducing risk of acute GVHD. The investigators hypothesize that Treg will permit the reintroduction of CD3+ Teff cells that will provide a bridge while awaiting HSC T cell recovery long term. The co-infusion of Treg will prevent GVHD without the need for prolonged pharmacologic immunosuppression.

Ofatumumab In Older Patients With Untreated Low Or Intermediate Risk Indolent B-Cell Lymphomas

LymphomaNon-Hodgkin9 more

This research study will only include two types of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), follicular lymphoma or marginal zone lymphoma and participants will be age 70 or older. The purpose of this research study is to learn about the safety of the treatment with the drug ofatumumab to find out what effects, both good and bad this treatment has on lymphoma. Ofatumumab is a monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies are being used to treat some types of cancer. Monoclonal antibodies are a type of protein made in a laboratory that can bind substances in the body including cancer cells. Ofatumumab binds to the protein called CD20, which is found on B-cells and lymphoma cells. The study drug, Ofatumumab, is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of other types of blood cancer and is not approved for use in patients with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. The use of ofatumumab in this study is considered investigational. In addition to learning about ofatumumab, the researchers are interested in learning about how this cancer treatment affects daily activities. Participants will be asked to complete a Geriatric Assessment (GA). GAs are designed to gather information on memory, nutritional status, mental health, and level of social support. This assessment will help the health care team understand a participant's "functional age" as compared to a participant's actual age. The researchers also want to collect blood samples to study molecules in follicular lymphoma cells called 'biomarkers' to learn about how the lymphoma responds to therapy. A biomarker is a molecule (for example, DNA or protein) found in the blood or tissues that is a marker for disease. In this study, the investigators will measure the changes of the biomarker called bcl-2. This biomarker research will only be in subjects with follicular lymphoma.

Vorinostat With or Without Bortezomib in Treating Patients With Refractory or Recurrent Stage IIB,...

Lymphoma

RATIONALE: Vorinostat and bortezomib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known whether vorinostat is more effective when given alone or when given together with bortezomib in treating patients with refractory or recurrent cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying how well vorinostat works when given alone compared with vorinostat given together with bortezomib in treating patients with refractory or recurrent stage IIB, stage III, or stage IV cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.

A Study of Navitoclax in Addition to Bendamustine and Rituximab in Patients With Relapsed Diffuse...

Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

This randomized, open-label, multicenter study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of navitoclax in addition to bendamustine and rituximab in patients with relapsed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Patients will be randomized to receive navitoclax in addition to bendamustine and rituximab or bendamustine and rituximab alone for 6 cycles.

Genetically Modified Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With HIV-Associated...

Adult Nasal Type Extranodal NK/T-cell LymphomaAIDS-related Diffuse Large Cell Lymphoma43 more

This clinical trial studies genetically modified peripheral blood stem cell transplant in treating patients with HIV-associated non-Hodgkin or Hodgkin lymphoma. Giving chemotherapy before a peripheral stem cell transplant stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or killing them. After treatment, stem cells are collected from the patient's blood and stored. More chemotherapy or radiation therapy is then given to prepare the bone marrow for the stem cell transplant. Laboratory-treated stem cells are then returned to the patient to replace the blood-forming cells that were destroyed by the chemotherapy and radiation therapy

Study of Veltuzumab and 90Y-Epratuzumab in Relapsed/Refractory, Aggressive NHL

Non Hodgkin's LymphomaNHL2 more

The goal of this study is to evaluate a new approach to immunotherapy in NHL by combining two antibodies, veltuzumab and epratuzumab. For treatment, epratuzumab has also been attached to a radioactive isotope called 90yttrium (90Y-epratuzumab). Veltuzumab and 90Y-epratuzumab attack different areas on lymphoma cells. Because of this, treatment with the combination may provide more effective treatment in NHL than either veltuzumab or 90Y-epratuzumab given alone.

Lymphoma

RATIONALE: Imaging procedures, such as positron emission tomography or computed tomography, may help in detecting differences between Hodgkin lymphoma or diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cancer cells. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying positron emission tomogaphy and computed tomography in determining differences in Hodgkin lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
