Music in Reducing Anxiety and Pain in Adult Patients Undergoing Bone Marrow Biopsy for Hematologic...
Chronic Myeloproliferative DisordersLeukemia8 moreRATIONALE: Listening to relaxing music during a bone marrow biopsy may be effective in reducing anxiety and pain. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well music works in reducing anxiety and pain in adult patients undergoing bone marrow biopsy for hematologic cancers or other diseases.

Aprepitant, Granisetron, & Dexamethasone in Preventing Nausea & Vomiting in Pts. Receiving Cyclophosphamide...
Breast CancerChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders10 moreRATIONALE: Antiemetic drugs, such as aprepitant, granisetron, and dexamethasone, may help lessen or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients treated with chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well giving aprepitant together with granisetron and dexamethasone works in preventing nausea and vomiting in patients receiving cyclophosphamide before undergoing an autologous stem cell transplant.

A Study of Enzastaurin in Chinese Patients With Advanced and/or Metastatic Solid Tumors or Lymphoma...
Solid TumorLymphoma1 moreThe purpose of this study is to assess the pharmacokinetics (PK) of enzastaurin and its metabolites in native Chinese participants with advanced and/or metastatic solid tumors or lymphoma. Information about any side effects that may occur will also be collected. Treatment of disease is not the main purpose of the study. This is a Phase 1 study of enzastaurin in native Chinese participants with advanced and/or metastatic solid tumors or lymphoma. Participants will receive daily doses of enzastaurin for 14 days, stop dosing for 3 days during PK sampling, and resume dosing on Day 18. Participants may be allowed to receive enzastaurin for approximately 2 to 4 weeks after day 18 to provide an opportunity for a participant's oncologist to assess the potential benefit of the participant continuing to receive enzastaurin in the safety extension phase. There is no planned duration for the extension phase; participants are allowed to continue receiving enzastaurin until disease progression or other reason for discontinuation as per the investigator's assessment.

Cyproheptadine and Megestrol in Preventing Weight Loss in Children With Cachexia Caused By Cancer...
Brain TumorCentral Nervous System Tumors7 moreRATIONALE: Cyproheptadine and megestrol may improve appetite and help prevent weight loss in children with cancer. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well cyproheptadine and megestrol work in improving appetite and preventing weight loss in children with cachexia caused by cancer or cancer treatment.

Graft-Versus-Host Disease Prevention in Treating Patients Who Are Undergoing Bone Marrow Transplantation...
Graft Versus Host DiseaseLeukemia1 moreRATIONALE: Bone marrow transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy used to kill tumor cells. Sometimes the transplanted cells can make an immune response against normal tissues. Methotrexate and cyclosporine may prevent this from happening. PURPOSE: Phase III trial to study the effectiveness of treatment with methotrexate and cyclosporine after bone marrow transplantation to provide protection against acute graft-versus-host disease.

Comparison of Nutritional Supplements in Preventing Weight Loss in Patients With Cancer
CachexiaLymphoma3 moreRATIONALE: Nutritional supplements may help prevent loss of appetite, weight loss, and fatigue in patients with advanced cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of two nutritional supplements in preventing loss of appetite, weight loss, and fatigue in patients who have stage III or stage IV solid tumors.

Sargramostim in Reducing Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Patients Who Are Undergoing Donor Stem Cell...
Chronic Myeloproliferative DisordersGraft Versus Host Disease4 moreRATIONALE: Colony-stimulating factors such as sargramostim may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and may help a person's immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Giving sargramostim to the stem cell donor and the patient may reduce the chance of developing graft-versus-host disease following stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: Clinical trial to study the effectiveness of sargramostim in decreasing graft-versus-host disease in patients who are undergoing donor stem cell transplantation for hematologic cancer or aplastic anemia.

Levofloxacin to Prevent Infection Following Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Solid Tumors...
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsBreast Cancer9 moreRATIONALE: Giving antibiotics may be effective in preventing or controlling early infection in patients receiving chemotherapy for solid tumors or lymphoma. It is not yet known if levofloxacin if effective in preventing infection. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of levofloxacin in preventing infection in patients receiving chemotherapy for solid tumors or lymphoma.

Treatment for Chronic Pain in Patients With Advanced Cancer
Chronic Myeloproliferative DisordersLeukemia8 moreRATIONALE: Different drug formulations and combinations of drugs may help patients with chronic pain live more comfortably. It is not yet known which regimen is most effective for chronic pain. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of different morphine formulations with or without dextromethorphan in treating chronic pain in patients who have advanced cancer.

Growth Factor to Prevent Oral Mucositis in Patients With Hematologic Cancer
Drug/Agent Toxicity by Tissue/OrganLeukemia4 moreRATIONALE: Keratinocyte growth factor may prevent symptoms of mucositis in patients receiving radiation therapy and chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of keratinocyte growth factor in preventing oral mucositis in patients who have hematologic cancers and who are undergoing radiation therapy and chemotherapy before autologous peripheral stem cell transplantation.
