Measurement and Analysis of Macular Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) Elevations With Cirrus HD-OCT...

Drusen Stage Macular Degeneration

The objective of this study is to compare the areas designated as elevated retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) by the Cirrus HD-OCT versus those designated as drusen on color fundus photographs (CFPs).

Age Related Macular DegenerationChoroidal Neovascularization

ForeseeHome, an FDA-approved home device, was specifically designed for unsupervised Preferential-Hyperacuity-Perimeter (PHP) testing of Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) patients at home by characterizing central and paracentral metamorphopsia . The purpose of the current study is to evaluate if, in post-treatment patients, PHP parameters as measured with the ForeseeHome are in agreement with clinical decisions and retinal characteristics as measured with optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Diabetic RetinopathyAge-Related Macular Degeneration1 more

The main objective of this observational study is to characterize and correlate functional and structural changes at the retinal level using the Retinal Leakage Analyzer (RLA) and the Optical Coherence Tomograph (OCT). To show if it is possible to use OCT as an indirect measurement of leakage, this study will check, in a primary analysis, for OCT changes between fluorescein leaking and non-leaking areas (identified by Retinal Leakage Analyzer). As a secondary objective, changes in RLA and OCT over time (between two consecutive visits) will be analyzed and characterized. The results of this study will be used exclusively for scientific purposes.

Age Related Macular Degeneration

Study come to investigate the correlation between visual fields (VF) defects map generated by preferential hyperacuity perimeter (PHP) and features of the choroidal neovascular lesions (CNV) demonstrated by Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT). To investigate the Foresee PHP ability to asses treatment progression post treatment.

Antioxidant Systems and Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine whether the antioxidant supplements used in AREDS shifted the plasma pool of the AREDS subjects to a more reduced state. The AREDS subjects were randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups: antioxidants (500mg Vitamin C, 4000IU Vitamin E, 15mg beta carotene) zinc (80mg zinc oxide, 2mg cupric oxide) antioxidants plus zinc; placebo. None of the subjects received supplemental GSH or cyst (e) ine. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of severe visual impairment in elderly Americans, with an estimated 15 million people having some form of this disease. AMD primarily affects the central vision and many patients develop severe visual handicaps. Currently there are no clear established understandings of the etiology or pathogenesis of this disease.

Sensitivity and Specificity of the Home Macular Perimeter (HMP)

Age Related Macular Degeneration

The primary objective of this study is to estimate the sensitivity of the HMP test in identifying visual field functional defects in subjects with CNV secondary to AMD, and differentiate them from intermediate AMD subjects.
