Intestinal Flora Sequencing for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

This study investigated the correlation between the changes in the intestinal flora and NPC by an examination of the intestinal flora and multiple clinical indicators of the blood of 8 carefully screened patients of familial NPC, 24 patients of sporadic NPC and 27 healthy controls and a comparison of the differences in their intestinal flora structures and biological functions. By analyzing the function of the intestinal floras of NPC patients, we aimed to provide a better biological marker for patients with familial and sporadic NPC and constructed a disease prediction model for high-risk populations.

Plasma Glycosaminoglycans as Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers in Surgically Treated Renal Cell...

Renal Cell Carcinoma

In this study, the investigators profiled plasma glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in a retrospective consecutive series of patients with a radiographic finding of renal mass referred to primary surgery for renal cell carcinoma (RCC). A control group was formed by measuring plasma GAGs in healthy volunteers. The primary endpoints were the specificity and sensitivity of plasma GAGs in the detection of early stage RCC in pre-surgical samples versus healthy individuals. The investigators further analyzed how plasma GAGs varied according to stage, grade, RCC histology, other renal masses, and after surgery. Finally, the investigators estimated whether plasma GAGs could be used for prediction and surveillance of RCC recurrence.

R1vascular Hepatectomy for HCC Patients

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Since the previous decade, the authors introduced the R1 vascular (R1vasc) resection for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and colorectal liver metastases (Torzilli et al. J Am Coll Surg 2005; Viganò et al. Ann Surg Oncol 2016; Torzilli et al. Surgery 2017). However, oncological reliability of tumor exposure in surgery for HCC remains controversial since it has never been validated. The aim of the study is to determine the oncological adequacy of R1vasc hepatectomy in patients with HCC.

RFR Change of Precise Segmental Versus Complete Renal Arterial Clamping During LPN for Clinical...

Renal Cell Carcinoma

Renal functional reserve may be better in patients with clinical T1 renal cell carcinoma(RCC) undergoing laparoscopic partial nephrectomy with precise segmental renal artery clamping than those with complete renal arterial clamping.

Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in Peritoneal Carcinomatosis...

Gastric CancerPeritoneal Carcinomatosis

Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis has a poor prognosis with a median survival of less than one year. Systemic chemotherapy including targeted agents has not been found to significantly increase the survival in Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis. Since recurrent gastric cancer remains confined to the abdominal cavity in many patients, regional therapies like aggressive cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy have been investigated for Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy has been used for three indications in Gastric Cancer- as an adjuvant therapy after a curative surgery, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy has been shown to improve survival and reduce peritoneal recurrences in many randomised trials in Asian countries; as a definitive treatment in established PC, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy along with cytoreductive surgery is the only therapeutic modality that has resulted in long-term survival in select groups of patients. While the results of randomised trials of adjuvant hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy from western centres are awaited, the role of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in the treatment of Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis is still evolving and needs larger studies before it is accepted as a standard of care.

A Nomogram Model to Predict Central Lymphnode Metastasis in Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma

Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma

To establish and validate a suitable and practical nomogram for primary hospitals to predict the risk of central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) among thyroid papillary carcinoma (PTC) patients based on clinical and ultrasound characteristics among Chinese population,1000 PTC patients were retrospectively reviewed who underwent bilateral thyroidectomy or lobectomy plus central lymph node dissection(CLND) between June 2014 and September 2019 in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital (Guangzhou, South China), and then LASSO regression analysis was performed to screen out the possible predictors. Another 200 PTC patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University (Zhengzhou, North China) who underwent bilateral thyroidectomy or lobectomy plus CLND between March 2019 and November 2020 were enrolled to construct the nomogram. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves (AUC), calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the nomogram.

Performance Evaluation (Sensitivity/Specificity) of HelioLiver Test for Detection of HCC

Hepatocellular Carcinoma by AJCC Stage

De-identified whole blood and serum samples are collected for the purpose of evaluating the performance (sensitivity/specificity) of the HelioLiver Test for the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Hepatocellular Carcinoma Imaging Using PSMA PET/CT

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The purpose of the research is to evaluate the use of a PSMA PET/CT (Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography) scan in the diagnosis of HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma) and comparing it to standard scanning techniques with CT (Computed Tomography) or MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
