A Trial of n-3 PUFA-Enriched Ready to Use Therapeutic Food for Childhood Severe Malnutrition
Severe Acute MalnutritionThe investigators will perform a randomised controlled trial of the provision of food designed for rehabilitation of malnourished children that is supplemented with n-3 fatty acids compared to usual composition. The investigators want to see whether the provision of such a food normalises the deficiencies in essential fatty acids observed in severely malnourished children faster than standard composition.
Treatment of High-Risk Moderate Acute Malnutrition Using Expanded Admission Criteria
MalnutritionThis project explores whether children have better growth and cognitive development when the clinic identifies "higher risk" MAM children and support them either with the same treatment as SAM children or with the recommended practice: nutrition counseling.
A Prospective Study Frailty for Esophagectomy and Lung Resection in Thoracic Surgery
ThoracicThoracic Neoplasm7 moreThe purpose of this study is to develop an all-encompassing frailty model using laboratory and functional studies. A frailty model will help us determine prior to surgery who will require rehabilitation and skilled nursing needs beyond discharge. This model will also help us determine who will likely be readmitted and why they will be readmitted. Understanding these things can help us prevent some of them from occurring in the future.
Comparison of an Alternative Therapeutic Food for the International Food Aid Market to a Standard...
MalnutritionIn this clinical non-inferiority trial, two foods will be compared for the treatment of SAM, testing the hypothesis that the difference in recovery rates and growth between the two test groups will be no greater than 5 percent.
Integrated Treatment Protocol for Acute Malnutrition: A Non Inferiority Trial in Burkina Faso
Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM)MUAC only is a pilot trial external control carried out between January 2017 and December 2017 in the Yako district (northern region), Burkina Faso. The objective of this study is to evaluate an integrated protocol for acute malnourished children without medical complication. The hypotheses of the integrated protocol include : A global treatment of acute malnutrition (moderate and severe) with a single treatment (RUTF) would improve the functioning of the program through early identification of acutely malnourished children, while achieving a better coverage and using a single supply chain. A gradual reduction of RUTF dosage according to a child's MUAC status could significantly increase the number of children on treatment without increasing overall RUTF quantity while maintaining similar recovery rates.
