Comparison of 2 Techniques of Surgically Assisted Rapid Maxillary Expansion

MalocclusionMaxillar Hypoplasia1 more

This study evaluates 2 Techniques of Surgically Assisted Rapid Maxillary Expansion (SARME) in the treatment of maxillary transverse deficiency. Half of participants will undergo an osteotomy between the maxillary central incisors, while the other half will undergo an osteotomy between the maxillary lateral incisors and canines (bilateral osteotomies).

Changes Following the Treatment of Lower Jaw Protrusion Using Two Appliances

Class III Malocclusion in Growing Patients

An in vivo study evaluating the efficacy of the Tandem appliance in the treatment of maxillary deficiency in growing patients compared to the conventional facemask appliance treatment. Pre-treatment and post-treatment lateral cephalograms will be taken. Dentofacial, sagittal and vertical skeletal measurements will be taken at three assessment times. Changes within each group will be assessed. In addition, the changes between the two groups will be compared.

Alveolar Microperforation for Inflammation-Enhanced Tooth Movement During Orthodontic Treatment...

Malocclusion

The purpose of this research study is to assess the clinical effectiveness of the procedure of a minimally invasive alveolar microperforation procedure to achieve accelerated tooth movement in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. "Accelerated tooth movement" means that using the PROPEL™ device may help complete your treatment with braces on one side of your mouth sooner than would be expected if the device were not to be used.

A Randomised Clinical Trial: Conventional Ligation vs Figure of 8

Malocclusion

Fixed braces (appliances) are used to straighten the malalignment of teeth. There has been a lot of research into the factors that can affect the speed of alignment of teeth but there has been very little research on how different techniques of wire attachment to the brace (ligation) can affect this. The randomised clinical trial of 100 patients aims to compare the speed of alignment of the lower (mandibular) front teeth (incisors) using two different techniques over a period of 12 weeks. Both techniques use the conventional small elastic rings (modules) that are placed over each metal square (bracket) but they will be tied in a different configuration for each group. We will also observe any differences in the distances between the corresponding teeth either side of the lower jaw for each group and the bracket failure rates.

0.018 or 0.022 Bracket Slot System More Effective in Orthodontic Treatment?

Malocclusion

The purpose of this study is to compare the 0.018-inch and 0.022-inch bracket slot systems to determine which is more effective for orthodontic treatment .

Efficacy of Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin (i-PRF) in Enhancing Bone Quality

MalocclusionAngle Class II1 more

Twenty patients need therapeutic extraction of the maxillary first premolars with subsequent retraction of the maxillary canines, will be divided randomly into two groups, and will randomly assigned to one side of the maxillary arch at the first premolar region, and the other side served as the control. Canine retraction will be initiated after completion of the leveling and alignment phase via closed nickel-titanium coil springs applying 150 g of force per side. Soldered transpalatal arch will be used as an anchor unit. The dento-alveolar changes will be assessed immediately before retraction and after 6 months using CBCT.

First-In-Man Performance and Safety Evaluation of the CARLO® Device in Midface Osteotomies

AbnormalitiesJaw2 more

The study product is a Cold Ablation Robot-guided Laser Osteotome (CARLO®) robotic surgery device. It is a device that removes hard tissue such as bone by means laser ablation - it is therefore an alternative to Piezo-Electric osteotomes and/or oscillating saws or other mechanical instruments for bone cutting. In this study, the CARLO device is integrated with a computer-assisted pre-operative planning and intra-operative navigation, and will be used for Patients requiring an orthognathic procedure with a mid-face osteotomy, for whom a procedure plan is defined based on preoperative imaging.

Evaluation of the Levels of Pain and Discomfort Between Two Methods of Correcting Misaligned Teeth...

MalocclusionCrowded Teeth1 more

Applying flapless piezocision corticotomies on the alveolar bone and separating anterior mandibular teeth using a piezosurgery device (i.e. ultrasonic waves that perform very accurate incisions without any sutures following this procedure) may improve the speed of tooth alignment during orthodontic treatment. This study consists of two groups, patients will be randomly assigned to one of these two groups. The levels of pain and discomfort of this procedure on 18 patients (experimental group) will be evaluated, whereas the second group (control group) will receive a traditional orthodontic therapy.

The time required to achieve complete alignment of crowded mandibular anterior teeth (from canine to canine) will be compared between the two groups.
