Diabetes Care for Breast Cancer Patients

Breast CancerPreDiabetes1 more

The goal of this study is to find a new way to make diabetes care better for patients with breast cancer and diabetes who are currently receiving chemotherapy treatment. We will have two groups, the researchers will decide who is in which group. One group will be working with a nurse who is trained in diabetes care while the other does not. This will allow the investigators to see if having a trained nurse as part of the care team can help improve the care the patients receive.

The Efficacy of Tianeptine Versus Pregabalin on Acute and Chronic Post Mastectomy Pain After Breast...

Post-mastectomy Pain Syndrome

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among females. Nearly 40% of breast surgery patients experience moderate to severe acute postoperative pain, with severe pain persisting for more than 6 months in almost 20-50% of patients (post mastectomy pain syndrome) which is defined according to International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) as pain which persists more than 3 months after mastectomy/lumpectomy affecting the anterior thorax, axilla, and/or medial upper arm. Different pharmacological tools have been in use for either prevention or treatment of such refractory pain syndrome with variable efficacy. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of the perioperative use of Pregabalin versus Tianeptine on the emergence of PMPS in female patients undergoing MRM for breast cancer.

At-Home Cancer Directed Therapy Versus in Clinic for the Treatment of Patients With Advanced Cancer...

Advanced Malignant Solid NeoplasmAnal Carcinoma18 more

This clinical trial studies the effect of cancer directed therapy given at-home versus in the clinic for patients with cancer that may have spread from where it first started to nearby tissue, lymph nodes, or distant parts of the body (advanced). Currently most drug-related cancer care is conducted in infusion centers or specialty hospitals, where patients spend many hours a day isolated from family, friends, and familiar surroundings. This separation adds to the physical, emotional, social, and financial burden for patients and their families. The logistics and costs of navigating cancer treatments have become a principal contributor to patients' reduced quality of life. It is therefore important to reduce the burden of cancer in the lives of patients and their caregivers, and a vital aspect of this involves moving beyond traditional hospital and clinic-based care and evaluate innovative care delivery models with virtual capabilities. Providing cancer treatment at-home, versus in the clinic, may help reduce psychological and financial distress and increase treatment compliance, especially for marginalized patients and communities.

Searching for Masses and Calcifications at the Same Time in Breast Cancer Screening

MammographyBreast Cancer1 more

Brief Summary A task like breast cancer screening (mammography) can be described as a "hybrid search" task. In basic visual search tasks, observers search for a target among distractors that are not the target. In hybrid search, observers search for two or more target types. In mammography, observers are searching for masses, calcifications ("calcs"), and some other signs of cancer like architectural distortion. In this experiment, the investigators have created a simulated version of mammography where non-expert (non-radiologist) observers can look for simulated masses and calcs. There are two types of stimuli, a 2D version (like an x-ray) and a 3D version (like the output of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis - DBT). The question that is being asked is whether it is better to ask about masses and calcs separately (first one, then the other) or to just let observers look for both at the same time.

Breast CancerNon-metastatic2 more

Shared Decision Making on Care Pathways and alternative and complementary medicine (CAMs) : A Pilot Study. Study whose aim is to evaluate the feasibility of a study proposing a therapeutic education consultation leaning on the usual care pathway by estimating the recruitment capacity over 4 months as well as the acceptance rate of the study among patients diagnosed with breast cancer.

Breast CancerPeripheral Neuropathies2 more

Peripheral neuropathy from paclitaxel is a cause for concern. This situation also affects the patient, family and healthcare professionals. All health personnel are responsible for its care. With this study, it will be possible to create evidence for nursing practices and increase the quality of life by relieving symptoms.

Analysis of Letrozole in Patients With Operable Hormone Receptor Positive, HER2 Negative Breast...

Breast AdenocarcinomaInvasive Breast Carcinoma1 more

This phase II trial examines letrozole in patients with newly diagnosed hormone receptor-positive HER2-negative invasive breast cancer that can be removed by surgery (operable). Letrozole is in a class of medications called nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of estrogen produced by the body. This can slow or stop the growth of some types of breast cancer cells that need estrogen to grow.

Evaluation and Modeling of the Effect of G-CSF on the Evolution of Polynuclear Neutrophils During...

Localized Breast Cancer

Patients including of localized breast cancer will require chemotherapy treatment with epirubicin - cyclophosphamide (EC) followed by treatment with docetaxel or paclitaxel. In addition to this chemotherapy, the investigator will prescribe injections of granulocyte growth factors (G-CSF), to stimulate the growth of white blood cells. Patients will be randomized to either a peg-G-CSF arm or a G-CSF arm, prescribed at different times. The aim is to determine whether one of the two treatment regimens best limits the risk of a decrease in white blood cells
