Lifestyles and Breast Cancer

Malignant Tumor of Breast

Background: In Spain, 1 out of every 11 women will have a breast cancer before the age of 85 years and breast cancer is the leading cause of potential years of life lost. The randomized intervention in PREDIMED trail, using Mediterranean diet with free provision of extra virgin olive oil (MedDiet+EVOO) dramatically and significantly reduced the occurrence of cases of postmenopausal breast cancer. Objectives: Assess the efficacy of a nutritional intervention with MedDiet+EVOO for the prevention of relapses among women with early breast cancer. Methods: Randomized, multicenter trial (LifeBreast) among 766 women diagnosed with early breast cancer. Participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to i) MedDiet+EVOO or ii) low-fat diet. Changes in circulating tumor cells, inflammatory biomarkers, oxidative stress and quality of life will be evaluated. The intervention will be delivered by face-to-face interviews with study dietitian, phone calls, and online tools. Participants in the MedDiet+EVOO group will receive 0.5l/week of EVOO and participants in the low-fat group will receive allotments of different foods, both at no cost. Generalized estimating equations will be used to estimate between-group differences in the following outcomes: circulating tumor cells, inflammatory biomarkers, oxidative stress, and quality of life will be evaluated.

A Text-based Intervention in Improving Adherence to Hormone Therapy in Patients With Stage I-III...

Anatomic Stage I Breast Cancer AJCC v8Anatomic Stage IIA Breast Cancer AJCC v819 more

This trial studies how well a text-based intervention works in improving adherence to hormone therapy in patients with stage I-III hormone receptor positive breast cancer. Women often require long term therapy with adjuvant hormone therapy to prevent the cancer from returning and to improve overall survival. Side effects from hormone therapy may prevent some women from staying adherent to their medication therapy. A text-based intervention may provide educational information to breast cancer patients who are undergoing adjuvant hormone therapy.

HERPET- A Novel PET Imaging Study of HER2 in Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

This mechanistic study will be the first study to assess the efficacy of [18F]GE-226 to target HER2 expression in patients with metastatic breast cancer. The study will establish the pharmacokinetics of [18F]GE-226 and the optimum time-point for performing static scans in this patient population.

Clinico-biological Data Collection Study of Metastatic Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

RATIONALE : Currently, the mechanisms associated with the response or resistance to treatment are poorly understood and are multifactorial. These mechanisms involve clinical and biological factors associated with the host and the tumor and possibly the patient's psycho-social environment. PURPOSE : This trial will assess the use of a prospective database dedicated to patients with breast cancers that contains clinical data as well as epidemiological, psychological, emotional, social, imaging, biological and bio-pathological data. These data will allow a creation of new modelling algorithms in order to predict response and resistance to treatment.

Breast Cancer: Axillary Conservation After Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Micro Metastatic Sentinel...

Breast Cancer

Italian multicentric non inferiority clinical study to verify whether the omission of axillary lymph node intervention in patients with SLN (Sentinel Lymph Nodes) ypN1mi after NAC (Neo Adiuvant Chemotherapy) does not lead to a significant deterioration in survival or in the risk of regional or distant recurrence, compared to patients with negative SLN (SLN ypN0) after NAC ,where the omission of axillary treatment is currently the standard treatment.

CardiotoxicityHER2/Neu Positive3 more

This phase III trial studies how well carvedilol works in preventing cardiac toxicity in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER)-2-positive breast cancer that has spread to other places in the body. A beta-blocker, such as carvedilol, is used to treat heart failure and high blood pressure, and it may prevent the heart from side effects of chemotherapy.

Examination of the Effect of Counselling and Follow-up After Breast Cancer Awareness Training

Breast CancerNurse3 more

The aim of the study was to examine the effect of counselling and follow-up after education on the risks and prevention methods of breast cancer on early diagnosis behaviours and healthy lifestyle behaviours. The population of the study will consist of female administrative staff working at Mersin University. The sample of the study will consist of 160 people. A total of 160 personnel determined by randomisation will be divided into group A (study) and group B (control) formed by the independent researcher in the computer environment. All participants will be given a one-hour training on breast cancer and will be practised with a model as well as a presentation. Group A will be counselled for 6 months after the training and a reminder message will be sent via SMS on Monday every week as "Check your modifiable risk factors for breast cancer" and their feedback will be received. In group B, no additional application will be made except for the training. The data of the study will be collected before and 6 months after the training by using the Descriptive Characteristics Form, Breast Cancer Early Diagnosis Behaviours Form, Counselling Form and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours Scale II. The data obtained from the study will be analysed in a computer environment. Number, percentage, mean and standard deviation will be used as descriptive statistics in the evaluation of the data.
