A Study to See Whether Estrogen Can Slow the Growth of Some ER Positive Breast Cancers

Estrogen Receptor Positive Breast Cancer

Some breast cancers have estrogen receptors (ER+). The investigators know that some ER+ tumours can be cured by hormone therapy alone while other ER+ breast cancers cannot. Currently, there is no perfect way to tell these groups apart nor do the investigators know why some respond when others do not. Research findings suggest that the two types of ER+ breast cancers differ in their response to estrogen with estrogen being toxic to one type and not the other. For those tumours that find estrogen toxic, this may explain why tumours only start to grow when estrogen levels decrease after menopause. The purpose of this study is to see whether a two-week treatment of estrogen equal to pre-menopausal estrogen levels will decrease the rate at which patients' ER+ tumours grow. This will be done by comparing the growth rate in the tissue removed during standard of care surgery after patients have been treated with 7-14 days of estrogen prior to that surgery.

Radiation Therapy Before Surgery in Treating Patients With Hormone Receptor Positive, HER2 Negative...

Estrogen Receptor PositiveHER2/Neu Negative2 more

This phase II trial studies how well radiation therapy before surgery works in treating patients with hormone receptor positive, HER2 negative breast cancer. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Giving radiation therapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed.

Study of Boserolimab (MK-5890) as Monotherapy and in Combination With Pembrolizumab (MK-3475) in...

PharmacokineticsSolid Tumor3 more

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and pharmacokinetics of boserolimab (MK-5890) when administered alone and in combination with pembrolizumab (MK-3475) in adults with advanced solid tumors. The initial course of boserolimab monotherapy or boserolimab plus pembrolizumab combination therapy will be for up to 35 administrations (approximately 2 years). The safety and pharmacokinetics of boserolimab when administered with pembrolizumab, pemetrexed and carboplatin in adults with non squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and boserolimab when administered with pembrolizumab and nab-paclitaxel in adults with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) will also be assessed.

Carboplatin +/- Nivolumab in Metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

This research study is studying a drug called Carboplatin with or without another study drug, Nivolumab as a possible treatment for triple-negative breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. The interventions involved in this study are: Carboplatin Nivolumab

DAPHNe: Paclitaxel/Trastuzumab/Pertuzumab in HER2-Positive BC

Breast Cancer

This research study is studying whether participants and their doctors are willing to determine post-surgery treatment on the basis of response to pre-surgery treatment, and studying blood and tissue collected from participants treated with a combination of drugs as a treatment for breast cancer. The names study drugs involved in this study are: Paclitaxel (also called Taxol) Trastuzumab (also called Herceptin) Pertuzumab (also called Perjeta)

ALRN-6924 and Paclitaxel in Treating Patients With Advanced, Metastatic, or Unresectable Solid Tumors...

Advanced Malignant Solid NeoplasmAnatomic Stage III Breast Cancer AJCC v813 more

This phase Ib trial studies the side effects and best dose of ALRN-6924 when given together with paclitaxel in treating patients with solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body or cannot be removed by surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as ALRN-6924 and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading.
