Optimizing a mHealth Physical Activity Intervention With Mindful Awareness Lessons in Breast Cancer...

Breast Cancer

The primary purpose of the present study is to apply MOST methodology to determine which types of social support and mindfulness training intervention components optimally increase MVPA adoption and maintenance in Breast Cancer Survivors (BCS) in a 24-week intervention with a 48-week follow-up. The researchers will also examine the effects of changes in MVPA on symptom burden, time spent in intensities of other activities (i.e. light and sedentary), and sleep quality and duration. Aim 1: To identify which components from four mHealth components under consideration for inclusion meaningfully contribute to improvements in MVPA at 24 and 48 weeks. Aim 2: To examine how changes in MVPA, as a result of the 4 components, may influence additional health behaviors and outcomes including: a) symptom burden (i.e. fatigue, depression, anxiety); b) time spent i n other activity intensities (i.e. light, sedentary time); and c) sleep duration and quality. Aim 3: To examine potential mediators (i.e. adherence, psychosocial factors such as post-traumatic growth, self-compassion, self-efficacy, and goal-setting) and moderators (i.e., age, time since diagnosis) of the four intervention components on MVPA.

Health Economic Evaluation of an Adapted Physical Activity Program for Women With Breast Cancer...

Breast Neoplasm

Adapted physical activity (APA) was recognized as a non-drug therapy by the French Health Authority (HAS) in 2011. Very few studies have examined the efficiency of APA programs during the active phase of treatment in cancer patients. The investigators assumed that non-drug therapy such as APA could improve the quality of life and reduces health costs. The main objective of this study is to assess the efficiency of a standardized APA program, as compared to conventional management including simple recommendations for the practice of physical activity in women in phase active breast cancer treatment.

Real-time Tele-monitoring Versus Routine Monitoring of Breast Cancer Patients Receiving Adjuvant...

Breast Cancer Female

Patients with breast cancer receiving systemic therapy have a variety of symptoms. In cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and targeted therapy, it is common to report symptoms to physicians before each cycle of systemic therapy and planning maintenance and treatment applications accordingly. Nowadays tele-monitoring of patient reported outcomes using mobile applications is used widely. These applications provide many advantages to the patient, physicians, and health care system because patients report the symptoms experienced and helps contribute to the quick management of the symptoms and improve the adherence to treatment, decrease the frequency of dose delays and dose reduction of their treatment.

Study to Investigate Efficacy of a Novel Probiotic on the Bacteriome and Mycobiome of Breast Cancer...

Breast Cancer

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of probiotics on the breast tumor microbiome and gut microbiome in breast cancer. Microorganisms that make up the microbiome (such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi) may have an important role in breast cancer development. Understanding the association of microorganisms with breast cancer may enable new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat breast cancer. The probiotic, BIOHM, which is owned and distributed by BIOHM Health LLC, will be used in this study. BIOHM is a food supplement that is believed to balance bacteria and fungi in the body and has received the designation as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Evaluation of a Once Per Day Regimen of Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation for Improved Breast...

Anatomic Stage 0 Breast Cancer AJCC v8Anatomic Stage IA Breast Cancer AJCC v82 more

This phase II trial tests how well accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) delivered once per day works in ensuring an acceptable breast appearance in patients with low risk, hormone responsive breast cancer. APBI uses precise radiation beams to kill cancerous cells in a smaller area of the breast (partial breast) instead of the whole breast or chest area as in standard therapy. Additionally, APBI is given in a shorter course of treatment than whole breast radiation therapy, over fewer days instead of several weeks, with a lower total dose of radiation. APBI is currently given every other business day for a total of 5 treatments with excellent results; however, a shorter treatment duration could have similar or even better results. Undergoing APBI every day on consecutive business days for 5 treatments may result in an improved breast appearance for patients with low risk hormone responsive breast cancer.
